The Young classification system is based on mechanism of injury: lateral compression, anterior posterior compression, vertical shear, or a combination of forces. Lateral compression (LC) fractures involve transverse fractures of the pubic rami, either ipsilateral or contralateral to a posterior injury (Guyton & Hall, 2011).…

There must be an implemented of the safe medication administration by a double checking of the high risk medication to prevent any over dose administration of medications to the patient. It should be standard policy enforcement regulation in the matter of the proper stocking of the rooms with the functional equipment such as: oxygen, suction, gloves, masks, etc by the staff to ensure the safe and prepared environment in the case of emergency in the Emergency Department. It would be necessary to constantly evaluate the system to ensure that there are no kinks, and if there is any so the necessary changes can be made. Implementation of the intervention will generate a system which is more unified and it is based upon the effective and proper training and communication among the staff to practice in their duty in order to maintain the highest safety in care of the…
In the medical records department individuals do the work that they are suitable/ best fit so do not engage with other individuals. But in the accident and emergency department, even though employees carry out their own individual role, each job role is as important as the doctor or a specialist. As the different individuals in the accident and emergency department must work together, come to a solution together, there is an increased level of…

In order to develop a career in the EMS field, you must have a passionate heart for people and caring for them. Becoming a First Responder, you must agree to the fact that your life is second. Tending, caring and providing safety precautions for patients always come first. I can make a difference in patient health care by many different methods. The most important is showing and teaching them mental and emotional coping skills to deal with stressful situations. As well as communicating with other members of healthcare to provide positive and safety outcomes. Building a trust relationship not just with the patients, but family members as well and pointing out that their health comes first, and I will stop at nothing to ensure that promise. As…
On a typical day, a paramedic will respond to 9-1-1 calls. They may be taking a little old lady with hip pain to the hospital or rushing someone to the emergency room who's in cardiac arrest. They have to quickly but thoroughly assess the patient to determine injuries/illnesses and the severity of them. They are going to provide first aid and critical care to the sick and injured. They may also transfer people from one medical facility to another. After the patient is taken care of and is where they need to be, the paramedics are going to have to do paperwork and document what happened and what they did. They are going to also have to clean the interior of the ambulance to get rid of any blood or germs that could contaminate the next patient. They are going to have to wipe down things such as the gurney and the blood pressure cuff. Paramedics are going to restock anything that they might have used on a call to ensure that there is enough of whatever supply they may have used so that it can be ready for the next time that they need it. Most of the time, a paramedic is going to work in either a 12 hour shift or a 24 hour shift, and work on average about 40 hours a…
Healthcare consist of a variety of specialized services to meet each patient’s needs. In order to provide the best patient care, it is important for each provider to have the tools and resources that is needed to improve the patient’s health. The industry is broken down into different organizations as it is difficult for one provider to render all aspects of services. Providers have to be credentialed and licensed to treat different type of illnesses and diseases. If one goes to their primary care physician due to a broken foot, he typically would refer the patient to see an Orthopedist, who specializes in broken bones. Healthcare organizations are the same way, not one facility cannot treat all diagnosis.…
Continuity of care, for all patients, depends on the medical professionals working together for the betterment human health that frequently rely on each other to completely care for the patient. I don’t believe one could distinguish who or what department is more important in the care of a patient in the hospital setting; from the emergency department entrance door spanning throughout the hospital, every department and every medical professional is focused on one goal: to restore normalcy in the patient and return he/she to the life that he/she was living prior to entering that door. Patient care is conquered by a team of providers contributing to a plan of care for the stabilization, improvement, and health of human…
The health dangers imposed on paramedics are daunting when observed from the outsider’s perspective. They have constant exposure to contagious and infectious diseases from their patients or needles that may be haphazardly placed. Infectious diseases are especially dangerous for paramedics because they receive patients at the peak of the infection instead of through the treatment process, they are also the individuals who are least protected against the possibility of infection because they lack the time and proper equipment to ensure quarantine. Patient and paramedic interaction is an important indicator of exposure risks since many times paramedics must carry patients from emergency situations; as a result they have physical contact with their patients as opposed to nurses and doctors who only get exposure through secondary contact (Boyd 2003). Paramedics are also exposed to numerous chemicals that could cause burns or…
