Charles and Anne Lindbergh's son was abducted from their home on March 1, 1932 in New Jersey. The only evidence left in their infant son's room were muddy footprints, a ransom note, a chisel found a short distance from the house, and a homemade ladder. Even though the ransom was paid, the body of the infant was found two months later half buried in the woods. No other evidence was found, so there was no substantial evidence pointing to any possible suspect.…
The Lindbergh kidnapping was the “crime of the century” in the 1930’s. Charles Lindbergh became famous for making the first solo transatlantic airplane flight in 1927, later he became a daredevil pilot performing at fairs and other events. Before all of Charlie's’ amazing accomplishments, he was a farmer in Minnesota. Charles and his wife Anne Lindbergh lived in their new mansion in Hopewell, New Jersey, they had a nanny named Betty Gow, who was the first to discover the missing infant from the second floor. Because Charles Lindbergh was so well loved by Americans, the kidnapping of his son was a shocking event in our own nation.…
On February sixth, 1951 Henrietta Lacks, a black tobacco farmer from south Virginia, went to Johns Hopkins hospital to be treated for cervical cancer, she was treated by Dr. Lawrence Wharton Jr. He prepared her for her treatment and dilated her cervix, but before beginning the treatment he, without her permission, shaved two dime sized pieces of tissue one from her tumor and one from her healthy tissue then, he placed them in glass dishes. Those glass dishes were given to Dr. George Gey and his assistant, Mary Kubick, labeled them HeLa, because she combined the first two letters of Henrietta's first and last name. Dr. Gey, like many other scientist, had been trying to grow human cells outside of the body because it would help test the effects that medicine,…

He landed at around 10:30 pm to a hero’s welcome and became a major celebrity. After the flight, Lindbergh’s life hit a long stretch of hard luck. An intruder kidnapped and murdered Lindbergh’s infant son. Eventually the police arrested Bruno Hauptmann who was convicted and executed. After this Lindbergh’s reputation took a hit after he appeared to be sympathetic to the Nazis. This was in part because of his belief in eugenics or the belief that certain traits could be reinforced in a population through selective breeding. President Roosevelt believed Lindbergh committed treasonous acts in trying to delay American entry into WWII. After the war Lindbergh became increasingly involved in environmental issue. He led campaigns to protect endangered species. He died in Hawaii in…

Throughout the three of these passages, the authors are all evaluating the same topics, but are telling them from different point of views. The passages are, “Klondike Gold Rush”, “from A Woman Who Went to Alaska,” written by May Kellogg Sullivan, and “City of Gold,” by National Film Board of Canada and all of them share the same topic, yet only two of them have the same point of view. For example the first passage, and the third passage share the same point of view, which is 3rd person point of view. And the odd one out is the second passage, which is 1st point of view.…
Before she was a pilot she volunteered as a nurse for the Red Cross. During her time as a nurse she worked with wounded pilots and developed a strong admiration for pilots. It was not until after Amelia’s first time in an airplane that she knew she wanted to learn how to fly. In 1921 she bought her first plane second hand and later in October she flew the plane to 14,000 feet, which was the record at the time for female pilots. On May 15, 1923 Amelia was issued her pilots license and became the 16th women to ever obtain their license. On June 1, 1928, Amelia flew from Newfoundland to Wales as a passenger. Pilot Wilmer Stultz flew the plane with co-pilot Louis Gordon. Due to the popularity, Amelia became a star with book deals and product endorsements, she even became an icon for women’s fashion. Amelia’s book 20 Hrs. 40 Min documents her trip across the Atlantic, which was published in1928. Amelia was the first women to fly solo across the Atlantic on May 20,1932. Her plan was to fly from Newfoundland to Paris, but she did not make it and ended up landing in Northern Ireland. In 1931 she broke another world record of flying at 18,415 feet in altitude. Later Amelia became the first president of the Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. On March 17, 1937, Amelia took off on the first leg of her trip around the equator.
