America Vs Texas
Tax rebates in the film industry exists in states other than Texas. Particularly, New Mexico and Louisiana have retained generally higher and more consistent incentive programs and offer close geographic alternative to Texas. The results of Texas falling behind in terms of competitive film industry incentives are already apparent with, for example, notable film maker Robert Rodriguez moving production of his television show From Dusk till Dawn: The Series out of his Austin based studio to New Mexico for the production of the show’s third season. Teresa Wyatt, a producer on the show confirmed that the decision to move was made “as a direct correlation to the decision by the State of Texas and the [show’s] budget” (Rancaño). This is not to …show more content…
It is visually represented in its cinematography, with writing and acting it brings its stories of whimsical imagination and harsh truths to life and gives composers the chance to write the iconic scores that viewers never forget. At the root of every film is a hardworking group of people who simply wanted to bring their thoughts to life and learned how to work together to make that dream a reality. The United States of America has a very special relationship with the film industry. American film is part of the national identity that all American’s share and should be a point of pride for everyone in the country. It is culturally one of our nation’s greatest achievements, with the potential to be remembered historically as one of humanity’s great artistic mediums and continues to get better as more platforms are created to give as many filmmakers of all backgrounds a voice. Deeper within the context of American film culture, it is apparent that every state has a unique contribution to the nation’s collection of great cinema. Texas has had its ups and downs when providing a budget for film industry tax rebates and the future of the program is uncertain. In the face of adversity from lawmakers who care little about film and seek to defund it, Texas film will only continue if the outcry to preserve authentic Texas filmmaking is felt and a desire to be competitive with other states in film production incentives exists within the Texas legislature. Otherwise, the neighboring states of Louisiana and New Mexico or other emerging film states, like Georgia and Kentucky will continue to outplay Texas in attracting movie producers. However, Texas could potentially step up and become a major participant in incentivizing the production of film in the nation. But, before that can happen, Texas lawmakers have to be convinced that supporting the local film industry is beneficial to the state’s economic growth. Only if

The First amendment of the Constitution of America calls for the protection of the United states citizens from the United States congress. It states that congress shall not pass any laws favoring a specific religious belief or stop any particular group from worshiping them. The first amendment also protects the United States citizen by allowing them freedom of speech/press and peaceful assembly or petition of the governments policies.(billofrightsInstitute) In 1984 Ronald Reagan was trying to run for his second term as president, however thousands of people gathered in front of the Dallas city hall to protest Reagan’s policies and in that crowd a protester named Gregory Lee Johnson. Johnson pulled a stunt that ended him up in the Dallas city court house convicting him to desecrating the U.S. flag. The Dallas city court’s decision was tried and took to the supreme court for Johnsons first amendment right being violated. The supreme court actually came to the decision that Johnson was protected by the first amendment. “After this decision by the supreme court, there has been six times the house of representatives have tried to vote a constitutional amendment known as Flag desecration amendment which stated “ congress shall have power to prohibit the physical desecration of the flag”. This amendment has not received the 67 votes it needs to pass but hasn’t been less than 63 voted for all six occasions” (billofrightsInstitute)…

American cinema was changing during this time as well and reflecting the mood of the world. Among the genres undergoing transition during this time, ?the Western was perhaps the greatest barometer?the genre long seen as most uniquely American, most assuredly linked to the national character and mythology, seemed to be evolving into a new, rougher beast? (McClain, 2010, p. 52). This was no more evident than in the Sergio Leone…

Texas the wildcard of the Deep South widely diverse economically, politically, and culturally, these three factors are what make up the great state of Texas, as we know it today. These factors also are what set Texas apart as a state compared to all the others on her boarders, and in the nation. The two party political systems in Texas has defined Texas since the late 1800’s from Democratic to Republican, each having a predominant rule, but Texas was changing faster than the parties could keep Texans happy. The Democratic Party had a strong hold on Texas and her political stance, simply because the Democratic Party was the party for the white male.…

It was a beautiful morning in Texas, the skies were blue, and there no clouds in sight. Parents and children were gathered along side the road to see the thrilling sight that was about to pass right before their eyes. Nobody at the parade that day could have been happier, as they watched their nation’s leader slowly drive past them in a large motorcade. My wife had just turned around to tell the president how much Texas loved him, when a shot rang out that changed our nation forever.…

The United States of America and Mexico compare and contrast their differences when it comes to education, homeless rates, and their overall standard of living. The U.S and Mexico compare when it comes to homeless rates seeing as the numbers are increasing each year. As for education, Mexico lacks standard education, where as the United States has a higher standard for education. The overall standard of living in both countries is probably the biggest difference the two countries have. Mexico has many prosperous areas to it, but for the most part people who live in Mexico, live poor and on the streets. Children in Mexico usually have to get street jobs in order to help their families with poverty. The United States has its own level of poverty and economic issues, but Mexico has a much higher poverty rate and their money is worth less than the U.S dollar, making it hard to earn money from American tourists. These two standards of living are completely different from each other seeing as they both have different problems. Mexico and the United States share the same issues and values, but on different levels of greatness.…

    1930s Movie Theater

The movie theater industry flourished with the attendance to movie theaters soaring. It was said to be that essentially all the population was attending movie theaters during this decade. The most influential reasoning for this spark of film was the craving for an escape from the people, who needed desperately to get away from their own lives, and experience someone else’s live and feel other emotions besides anguish and sorrow. Although the population’s yearning for an escape pushed the film industry to the top, the government assisted with the Works Progress Administration’s New Deal programs and the film and movie theater companies benefitted the industry by creating unique and intriguing genres and appealing advertisements. Today’s society also reaches to movies to take a break from reality and movie theater companies still continue to advance and innovate advertisements and the theaters themselves to increase the attendance. Even though, the decade of the 1930s was overall filled with misery and discouragement, the film industry was a positive aspect of this time with its new funding by the government it strived with advanced genres and…

    Texas Secession

We live in a country that is splitting due to political differences. It is expected that some states may want to leave the United States in future years. Governor Rick Perry once said during his time as Texas state governor, “Here is what we know after more than a decade of Republican rule: Texas works. Even The New York Times let it slip into its pages that, Texas is the future” (Perry). Good morning, my name is Caleb Taylor and today I will be discussing with you why Texas is likely to secede from the United States. First let me begin with a brief preview of Texas history, in 1835 the rebels of Texas revolted against the oppressive Mexican government. Then one year later in 1836, after numerous skirmishes with the Mexican army including the battle of the Alamo, the incident of “Come and Take it” in Gonzales, and then the final victory at the Battle of San Jacinto Texas obtained it’s independence and earned the right to be a country. Then in 1845, Texas joined the United States because it was a middle ground between the raging Mexico and United States. Texas is capable of seceding and maintaining a country for three main reasons. First, due to booms in the amount of natural resources produced in Texas every year, the economy flourishes. Secondly, because Texas is such a large landmass with a substantially large population, the body count would be capable of maintaining a country. The third reason Texas is likely to secede from the nation, is because of Texan’s pride.…

Von Trier presents the town of Dogville in a crummy, campy yet eye opening setting giving the sense of something bigger than itself. Despite being located in the Rocky Mountains near Georgetown, Dogville could be anywhere in the United States, but is a place defined by the gold rush of barely a couple years before, in the timeline of the film, and is a strong allegory to the state of the United States at the time of the films conception. The issues with the United States are apparent in the hypocritical scenes that Von Trier definetly picks apart and reveals the extremely political views of a country Von Trier has never even been to. And these views essentially cover the three basic points of political Enlightenment: Equality, Fraternity…

    Texas Culture

Texas has a rich and long history and much of it has passed through the state over the years to become a part of its folklore. This Texas folklore is part of many cultures within the state and has even filtered outside the state. The first cultural influence on Texas was from the Paleo-American Indians. When these Indians arrived they were in a bit of a culture shock when they met the Spanish in the 16th century. In the following centuries, more people began to arrive in Texas and they brought new ways of talking, believing and doing things. The Spanish and the Mexican set the patterns south of Nueces and along the Rio Grande. Anglos brought their ways of life from the British Isles to the South and Eastern part of Texas. African Americans who came to work on the plantations on the Brazos and Trinity bottoms brought songs, stories and beliefs that came with them from Africa. Germans came directly from the Old World to the Hill Country, Cajuns came from France and eventually through Louisiana and settled in Southeast Texas. The Dutch, Danes, Polish, Czechs, Norwegians who also came here brought with them their ways of life and they all became bound together to become part of Texas. By the year 2000, Texas was…
