American Heart Association History
The American Heart Association is one of the nation’s largest and oldest nonprofit organizations. They are dedicated to fighting strokes and heart disease. Since founded in 1924, the organization have expanded and is now a huge part of research projects and people’s lives in the United States of America. They work hard to improve the lives of all Americans and help further their knowledge about living a healthy life. To further research about heart diseases six cardiologist, Drs. Lewis A. Connor, Robert H. Halsey, Paul D. White, Joseph Sailer, Robert B. Preble, and Hugh D. McCulloch, created the American Heart Association in 1924. They enlisted help from thousands of physicians and scientists in the early stages of creating the organization. …show more content…
Which they are the nation’s leader in that area of training. Also, AHA provides science-based treatment guidelines to health care professionals to help ensure the best treatment for all patients. There are many fundraising events that the American Heart Association take apart of. Which including Wear Red Day, Go Red for Women Events, and the Heart ball. They even have events that take place to get children and their families involved like, Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Hearts events. The “Start! Heart Walk”, which has nearly 350 events across the U.S, is one of the biggest fundraisers for the AHA. The mission of AHA is, “Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Our mission drives everything we do”. Which is where their motto “life is why” comes into play. They want everyone to understand the threat of this diseases and know that they are largely preventable. Volunteers and supporters work constantly every day to eliminate and help spread caution to Americans about these deadly diseases, by providing the knowledge and education needed to help get the word out about how to prevent these diseases and how to live a healthy
