the hungry, but they don’t. They are taken in by one goal: make even more money. They curl up with their wealth, feeding on it while others starve. Evil runs up and down the streets of America with pain and agony in its wake. Gangs roam the night hurting everyone who gets in their way, yet people are dim-witted enough to join them. Homeless people starve in the street, yet the rich don’t give them shelter. Criminals and thieves live among us today unpunished; they commit their horrendous crimes willingly, sickly enjoying hurting people. There are a few people who try to stop them but only with limited success. They are slowed down by society, by fear, and by doubt. We need someone to stand up against all this wrongdoing, just like all the American heroes of the past did. In the past, many of the American heroes have been our presidents. The presidents of the last few decades have definitely not been ones to look up to. They lead lives filled with affairs among many other problems. What are young children supposed to think when the leader of their country does not have great morals? Our president sends innocent men miles away from their families to fight a senseless war so that he can only profit more. It all comes back to the same theme: the rich just want to get richer, not help others. Our country needs a strong leader who sticks to his morals. We need a leader who does not think for himself but who thinks for his country. Just like the great American hero John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” There are many things wrong with the world today: poverty and hunger, sickness and war. One of the greatest problems is that there are fewer heroes today. We need brave ones to idolize. We need warriors and leaders to guide us into the future. Who will we idolize? Who will guide us? We need the heroes of today.
