She was the first Black girl to go to an all White school. Parents and unhappy townspeople would arrive at the school every morning to heckle the six-year-old child. Yet, Ruby believed that the protestors needed to be freed from the hate in their hearts. In times of prejudice and segregation, America is viewed as a concept. It is believed to be a country that can be whatever its citizens shape it to be. America is an idea rather than a myth. I learned that throughout this course. In fact, in the beginning of the course I leaned about American Mythology and what created the America legacy. I learned about how Americans created a myths in order to produce narratives.
