School uniforms will help lighten any stress on students to fit into a certain group. There will be no competition in keeping up with today’s trends and fashion. The concept of school uniforms will help with the safety in schools, decrease the disciplinary issues facing schools, help to promote a positive school climate, and also place the focus of schools back on professionalism and excellence in education. Uniforms should be a part of all…
A few weeks ago, I was walking downtown, when this random came up to me and said “You in school? That’s good, that’s good. Education is important.” From the state of her hair and clothes, and the smell of her breath, I assumed she was homeless. I didn’t really pay much attention to her, because homeless people are so common in downtown Atlanta. I was just hoping that she wasn’t going to ask me for any money! After a while, I started thinking about what the homeless woman had said; “Education is important.” Growing up, I had always been taught that people who lived in the streets had been afforded the same opportunities as I had, but they had simply chosen to ignore them. So, if this woman had basically thrown away her life, why was she here preaching to me that education was important? How far had she gotten with her education? Was she like my great-grandmother, and lacked the skills to read and write? Literacy isn’t something that I spend a lot of time thinking about, mainly because all of the people that I surround myself and the people they surround themselves with are all capable of reading at proficient levels. Of course, I was always aware that some people had disabilities that made it harder to read, like dyslexia, but it never occurred to me that some of them allowed for the hindrance to completely turn them off to reading. Is it possible that I have been taking my literacy skills for granted? In this paper, I plan to explore literacy in America, and how it compares to the value other nations put on literacy and even our own country before public schools were instituted.…

I am a victim of the educational disproportionality in the public school system. I didn’t see the extent of the damage that had been done to me until I came to college and noticed how other students were unscathed by the inequities in the public education system. However, it was only because I was used to being in the same ineffective system surrounded by the same students who also didn’t know the experience of getting a higher quality education, but not anymore. Education is a powerful thing, and once you educate someone, you open a wide range of new opportunities for success. Minorities—Latinos in particular—are disproportionally affected by the lack of a great public education. I needed to find likeminded people who wanted to bring about change to benefit the Latino community. Being a leader meant I needed to take action.…
However, as stated previously, school is a place to learn not, not to show off your clothing line and your personal swagger. Clothes don’t pick who you are, wearing the uniforms will show that they are all equal and that no one is better than the other one. So, I believe that wearing the uniforms will beneficial to the school, students and parents. Society must decide if individual expression through clothing is more important than education performance being improved because of uniforms being implemented into the school system. Parents and students should remember that uniforms may be required during school hours. After school students can express their individuality in a way, they dress outside of the…
For some years now, parents, local politicians, the school board, and about every high school student has been debating over something so small to the public but a major issue to the students. Students in Catholic and Public Schools are required to wear school uniforms. When school uniform policies are put into place, studies show that there is an improvement in both attitude and school work. Wearing uniforms would also reduce clothing costs and many problems related to competition in dress. Not wearing regular clothes everyday would be a great idea because you can be yourself and be an individual in school and out. Wearing regular clothes can also be a distraction because you may forget that you’re in school and misbehave which will not be a good idea. It is my assumption that school uniforms are the best.…
