AMETHYST CRYSTALS - DRUNK CURE?
What if you were told you, could now drink anyone under the table at your next party and then, drive your own car without breaking the drunk-driving laws because you are using a very powerful, natural, and fast acting, 100 % neutralizing remedy for drunkenness?

Frankly, to my knowledge, no such cure exists, But to the Greeks of old, it was firmly believed that wearing amethyst crystals would instantly neutralize the effect of alcohol and as such, they were never found without either an amethyst bracelet or any other amulet of these semi-precious, purple crystals.

    Ancient civilizations dating back to the Neolithic period around 10,000 B.C. have fermented and consumed alcoholic drinks. The Egyptians believed that the god of wine, Osiris brewed the first beer with the most fundamental essence of life, and the alcoholic drink was essential to their survival. Whether it be with the purpose of getting drunk, to appease the gods or as primitive medicine, every developed society throughout human history has held alcohol to be an important aspect of life in some way. Only now, in the modern day United States of America alcohol carries much more controversial social implications. The authorities, our government, and worried parents see it as the devil’s drink, bringing with it only irresponsibility, self destructive habits, and a general decline in standard of behavior. Meanwhile it is held up by social media and marketing to cater to our adolescents, flooding their malleable minds with images of fame, fortune, sex appeal, care-free living and artificial maturity that will presumably accompany the use of alcohol. This duality that the consumption of alcoholic beverages holds brings a difficult question to the table. Where do we draw the line? How old is old enough to be trusted with a drink that can so drastically warp one’s conscious thought? As of now, 21 years old is that line, in an effort to discourage young drinkers, stop drunk driving and binge drinking. But the attempt to constrict and criminalize alcohol is a primary source of these issues in and of itself. Allowing individuals to drink earlier on in their lives, but under safe, regulated conditions will teach our youth the dangers of alcohol and how to consume it responsibly early on. It will significantly diminish the thrill of breaking the law to consume alcohol, and it will not promote general disrespect and disobedience in other aspects of the law. It has only been within the past 20 years that as a nation, we have begun to recognize the dangers associated with drunk driving (Sutton 463). According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this year 519,000 people, or one person per minute, will be injured in alcohol-related accidents. 10,839 people will die in drunk-driving crashes this year – that is one death every 50 minutes. The heartbreaking part is, every injury and lost life due to driving after drinking can be prevented. Drinking while driving “accidents” are not merely “accidents.” Getting in a vehicle after consuming alcohol, which severely affects the function of the brain, is not an accident. It is lack of responsibility. Individuals that consume alcohol irresponsibly must begin to take responsibility for themselves and for other innocent drivers on the road. Unfortunately, in spite of great progress, alcohol-impaired driving remains a serious national problem that tragically affects many victims annually (Hanson). It is time that laws and consequences for drinking while driving strengthen and people begin to think twice before driving a vehicle after drinking. Individuals who make the decision to drive after consuming alcohol, not only put themselves in a dangerous situation, they also put an entire community at risk. Current laws, which are not strict or powerful enough, must be increased in order to keep our neighborhoods around the nation safe.
