“The overseers wore dazzling white shirts and broad shadowy hats. The oiled barrels of their shotguns flashed in the sunlight. Their faces in memory are utterly blank.” Black and White men are the symbol of ethnic abhorrence. “The prisoners wore dingy gray-and-black zebra suits, heavy as canvas, sodden with sweat. Hatless, stooped, they chopped weeds in the fierce heat, row after row, breathing the acrid dust of boll-weevil poison.” The narrator expresses the unforgiving situations the slaves worked in; they didn’t even have a choice which is the saddest part. Yet the slave masters lived a different elegant life.…

During his childhood, he encountered the kind of men the women in his class didn’t think of to become. He knew the kind of men who labored with their bodies, from marginal farmers to welders, and carpenters. They were the kind of men who were just getting by in life trying to survive. These were the men who worked all day in any kind of weather. Because of working so long around machines they had hard hearing. The skin on their face became to look a lot like “the leather of old work gloves” (169) from all the squinting for not being able to see correctly. “The fathers of my friends always…

The first paragraph of chapter two is a description of the Valley of Ashes. Fitzgerald uses carefully chosen words and phrases to create a withdrawn mood for this setting, Fitzgerald describes the “transcendent effort of men who move dimly and already crumbling through the powdery air.”(pg.23) This quote creates a clear description of the men desperately trying to reach the American Dream. Fitzgerald uses special words like transcendent, i interpreted that the men’s efforts are not seen by the wealthy and are ignored. Fitzgerald also describes the men as “ash-gray” along with the land. His repetition of the color gray impresses the overall depressed mood of this setting. He also takes the time to give a description of…
To care about someone’s health and well-being is very important. To care about someone like a patient in this matter is more so because of medical malpractice. If a patient feels like they were neglected or mistreated and something bad came from being your care, there could be a possibility of a lawsuit. The main thing is to actually be sincere and truly care about a person. A person can tell when someone is not being sincere. To truly care about a person can give them the will to get better and to survive depending on condition. Communication is important as well when dealing in the medical field. To prevent miscommunication, make sure you are understood. If you don’t understand something or are not quit sure you heard something right, ask questions, get clarification to prevent miscommunication or any mishaps. Competence is also essential. If you are not confident in what you do and you are not knowledgeable in what you do then you will not have or gain the trust of your patients. You should always keep your skills and your education current and up to date. Charting is for documentation purposes. When documenting in charts, information should be documented as if the patient may be reading it. Documentation needs to be written legibly and accurately. I believe that all the four C’s play a very important roll in the medical field, but in my opinion I feel that caring and charting a little more important just for the simple fact that everyone wants to cared about. If you genuinely care about a person it can make a big difference. Charting is very important because the proof and documentation will always be there when you need it. You can always go back to it if you have…
Having no electricity, no phones or even any modern day technology- to us it would be a major culture shock but to the Amish it is just another day in life. The Amish are considered a society that is outdated and old. I have learned from researching that they can be fully functional.…
I found this poem to be very entertaining. One of my favorite lines was “We Jazz June.” Jazz is interpreted as sex and June can be found to be a girl’s name. So when I put it together the boys were staying up late, getting drunk, celebrating their sins and having sex. All of these fun activities that they would rather do instead of…

First, “Roaring Camp produced stricter ‘personal cleanliness’ upon those who aspired to hold ‘The Luck’. Taking Kentuck as a typical example, he was formerly unfamiliar with anything ‘clean’, appeared every afternoon in a clean shirt, and face shining. The men changed their clothes like a snake shedding skin for a new beautiful and hopeful life.…
