ability of being sly, Jen managed to make her plan for becoming free successful. In one scenario, Jen the shadow child was able to exit her house to go to the mall, with the excuse of being her mother's nephew. The population police were dumb enough to believe her, therefore she wasn't caught. Because of her sneakiness, she managed to stay alive to develop and bring about her plan.
Jen was a very intelligent young and wealthy girl.
Since she was lucky enough to have access to technology, it helped her prove her intelligence and also fulfill her plan. By using the computer her rich family provided her with, she made her own chat room for other shadow children in similar circumstances. Furthermore, she hacked into the government site to change the population police’s schedules so that nothing stood in her way when going to the president. Because of her intelligence, she helped herself bring about her plan.
By taking risks and showing acts of courage, Jen was able to carry out her scheme. She decided to go to the president, along with 40 other shadow children, and protest by demanding freedom for third children. Sadly, Jen had passed away during the revolt. Because she was courageous enough to do her idea, she executed her plan, but was unable to fulfill her goal.
Conclusively, in Among the Hidden, by Margaret Peterson, Jen Talbot demonstrated magnificent traits such as slyness, intelligence, and courage in order to accomplish her plan of protesting in front of the president. Portraying these traits allowed Jen to carry out such daring actions. Whether she failed or not, she was still determined to accomplish her goal, but unfortunately she lost her life. These situations are clear examples of how rebels will never prevail no matter how righteous their cause is. Margaret Peterson made Jen such an admirable character, which made the story more pleasant to
read.
