ASK is a modulation technique that related with amplitude of carrier wave being altered or modulated by information signal. When binary ‘1’ is appeared, the signal is transmitted and it is stopped when binary ‘0’ is appeared. The binary ‘0’ and ‘1’ are represented the shifting value between the two selected amplitude.
2) Frequency Shift Keying (FSK)
FSK is a modulation technique that related with the frequency shifting or changes of carrier signal to transmit the digital information. In simple cases of FSK modulation, one of the two frequencies transmits the digital data which is one of the frequencies will transmit ‘0’ while the other frequency transmits ‘1’. There are several types of FSK modulation that …show more content…
In using modem, it is involving a long distance communication which will cause higher attenuation. Then, the signal needs to perform modulation and demodulation process. All this process will contribute to the increasing in error rate. Thus, PSK technique is preferred since it has lower error rate and lower cost. Plus, PSK technique can send a signal having more than one digital value.
Question 3
Explain on OFDM and draw its architecture.
Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a modulation technique in form of multicarrier technique. In OFDM signal, it is consist of a number of closely spaced modulated carriers. When an information signal is applied to the carrier signal, the sidebands will be multiplied as shown in figure below. The whole signal must be received to demodulate the data. In OFDM, although the sidebands from each carrier overlap, the signal still can be received because they are orthogonal to each other. Hence, using OFDM will help to overcome the Inter Symbol Interference (ISI) and Improving Signal-to-Noise ratio (SNR) especially in long-distance communication. The requirement in using OFDM is the transmitting and receiving system must be linear. Non-linearity will result in impairment in the orthogonality of the
