Andy Warhol, in February 1968, showed his first exhibition at the Moderna Museet gallery in Stockholm. The quote “In The future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes,” appeared in the exhibition catalogue. This quote is known as one of Warhol's most famous quotations. The quote soon became tiresome because at every interview Warhol was asked about it, but in the end his quote became quite true. Warhol stated that “In the future everyone will be famous for fifteen minutes,” and is now true in society today with the emergence of reality TV shows.
A conflict is man vs. society because it is humans against society. Society today has made people believe that they can be famous without doing anything, and it
has corrupted many minds. Many people are fighting back against the current entertainment society. Another conflict is man vs. man because it is people against the celebrities. People are at a struggle to keep themselves from being influenced by these celebrities that have no aspirations and have become famous for foolish reasons. Also, another conflict is man vs. self because it is the people living in society against themselves. There has been a permutation in society, and many people especially teens have to struggle with not being influenced by these new emergence of reality show stars. They have to be able to halt themselves from letting the celebrity culture get to their heads.
Celebrities have a major influence on society today, is a theme. The rise in celebrity culture and reality television has caused a major impact to society, and not always in a positive way. Many of these reality shows are scripted and make people believe it is real, and influence teenagers and make them think that it is acceptable to do what they see on these shows. Society puts pressure on teens, is another theme. Many of these celebrities make teenagers, especially girls, feel like they are not good enough and that there is always something wrong with them. The society that has been created because of reality shows and celebrities has caused many girls to self harm and have low self esteem. Fame is not always something positive, is also a theme. Someone can be famous for doing something irresponsible, inappropriate, or ignorant. Not every celebrity is someone that is a positive role model, and can easily influence people in a negative way.
