Background
In this paper, the topic I would like to discuss deeper is the inconsistency of the text. That’s because the inconsistency can be seen and analyze in many form inside of the text. The inconsistency can be seen in the form of the contradictory words or phrases, and also from the shifts or instability in the continuity of text.
The text which I will use in this paper is the song lyric. The title is “Come Undone” sang by Robbie Williams. This song was written by Robbie Williams, Ashley Hamilton (son of George Hamilton), Boots Ottestad and Daniel Pierre. This song was recorded in 2002 and released in 31 March 2003. According to Robbie Williams web page, “Come Undone” song was initially banned from radio because of its explicit content. “Come Undone” was the second single to be taken from Escapology album in the spring 2003. Based on the chart highlight from Robbie Williams web page, “Come Undone” reached No.4 in the UK charts. A hit throughout Europe, it also made its mark on the South American airplay charts, reaching the Mexican top ten.
This song tells about a man who comparing the people to show the imperfectness of the people in the world. Whether they are not perfect, they still have the right to be love. The man inside the song called himself a scum because he felt he has disappoint and hurts his mother. He hurts his mother by using the imperfectness he has and yet he still love his mother and hope that he wouldn’t hurts his mother more.
