Love and all its difficulties
The theme that I found most interesting between the novels read in class and the one I read independently is how difficult love can be. Whether it be loving someone that others think would not think would be a good match or loving the old part of someone. Love is a test of trials and tribulations. The novel I read, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden, is about two young adults who meet in high school and later meet again in high school. Except in college, Kayden now notices Callie more and starts to grow love toward her as they become closer and closer. They both also share secrets that no one knows about, which makes their bond much stronger. Kayden is a victim of physical assault and Callie is victim of sexual assault. The tragedies on their lives create a strong love between them. This novel shows this theme throughout the novel. At first, Kayden has a girlfriend back home and it takes meeting getting to know Callie that he is not meant to be with her. In comparison to A Mid-Summer Nights Dream, love can be a difficult thing. For example the love triangle that is created between Lysander, Hermia, Helena, and Demetrius by Puck. The true love for someone may be misguided to make the bond even stronger. Also this theme is seen in the relationship between Bottom and Titania. Bottom has a big ego, while, Titania is more humble. That can also cause problems in a relationship when one person is more focused on themselves rather than the person that loves them. In the end of the play, the characters are with the ones they truly love and it takes an unknown obstacle to find out who really matters. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, this theme is shown. In the beginning of the novel, Janie has been married to men that did not truly loved her, they loved her for what she had. Her first marriage with Logan Killicks did not end too well because she felt that he was no longer acting like he loved her. At some points she seems to
