An Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam: Wings of Fire
bout the author:
APJ Abdul Kalam is one of India’s most distinguished scientists. He served as the 11th President of India, between 2002 and 2007. He was fondly referred to as “The People’s President” during his term. He has honorary doctorates from over thirty universities and is the recipient of the country’s three highest civilian awards – the Padma Bhushan, the Padma Vibhushan and the Bharat Ratna.
My thoughts on the book:

“He who knows others is learned, but the wise one is the one who knows himself. Learning without wisdom is of no use.”
Another excerpt that looks into life was…
“The trouble is that we often merely analyse life instead of dealing with it. People dissect their failures for causes and effects, but seldom deal with them and gain experience to master them and thereby avoid their recurrence. This is my belief: that through difficulties and problems God gives us the opportunity to grow. So when your hopes and dreams and goals are dashed, search among the wreckage, you may find a golden opportunity hidden in the ruins.”
.
2 This is the story of a boy who rose from a very humble coastal village in Tamil Nandu, Southern India to become one of the greatest architects of Indian Space mission. Indeed, Kalam was to become the president of India from 2002-2007-------------------
This book is an autobiography of a rocket scientist, a visionary, the only “king among the pawns”, the missile man and 11th president of India (2002-07) Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam popularly known as people’s president. “Wings of fire” is one such autobiography of a person who had the courage to dream big and the passion to keep striving till they are achieved. The book gives best insight about the life of a small town boy who dreamt to make India strong and prosperous – a DEVELOPED Nation and gave us “Vision 2020”.
The book is a journey of dreams, hopes, successes and failures. The life of this great personality was none different than the normal person, only thing

The book Gandhi An Autobiography: The Story of My Experiments with Truth is a book that is written in a way that does not narrate Mohmand Gandhi’s life; but rather, it shapes a more interactive approach to not only educate readers, but to teach them the importance behind his philosophies. The book is structured in a way that shows readers the challenges that Gandhi faced and how these formulated his outlook on life. Moreover, he writes his book from a self-realization standpoint on how his teachings were developed because of his experiments with discovering truth. In fact, Gandhi makes this interpretation apparent as he articulates that “it is not my purpose to attempt a real autobiography. I simply want to tell the story of my numerous experiments…

His life has been most selflessly devoted to his country, and rewarded most deservingly, with the highest civilian award of the country, the Bharat Ratna. The book also goes beyond biography, and serves as an excellent practical guide to R & D management, on how to design and build institutions, mentor and inspire men, to success and fulfilment. The account often goes deep into his own personal philosophy, austere beyond the reach of most average householders, and fortunately for posterity, records his philosophical and spiritual insights in a most accessible way, in spite of his own modest disclaimer, "I am not a philosopher." This man, who spent all his life "learning rocketry", also learnt many valuable lessons on how to manage men, matters and materials, while building up the country's defence R & D Programmes, as also its technological capabilities in space and atomic energy.…

Our late Prime Minister, Mr. Raja Gandhi often talked of taking India in to the 21st century. He was very optimistic and enthusiastic about the future of India and his faith and optimism were quite well founded. But, unfortunately, he was not destined to lead the country into the new century. He wanted to shape the destiny of India but did not know about his own tragic and untimely end. It sounds ironical, but in no way does it lessen his faith, hope, optimism and dynamism about the future of the country. Physically he is no more with us but his ideals, optimism, faith, enthusiasm and dynamism are with us. He symbolized the country’s youth and bright future and continues to live in the form of young men and women of India. What is important is the…
