An educated woman is a very sexy. This declaration is extremely strong, and speaks the truth. Any guy wants a gorgeous girl by their side, but will she able to help out the bills, just with her looks? All my life I pictured myself as that gorgeous educated woman, my parents had raised to be. To my parents education is the key to unlock doors to freedom, it makes you independent. They were not granted the opportunity to attend a college, nor did a university, I always have the mindset to break that trend in my family. My parents' sacrifices and encouragement had always inspired and also helped I shaped my goals, which is to get a good education, and to be strong on my feet. They had always tried their best to provide my sister and me with a good education, it hasn't usually been easy, but their drive made me realized that I needed to make them proud. My parents always reminded that it will not be easy, there will always be ups and downs, but the goal is to overcome them, and that is what I am trying to do. The challenges in life are here to break you or make you stronger. Well mines are here to make me stronger, like people always say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and I stand by that. College is very different comparing to High School, there are more responsibilities. This is my first year in college graduating from High School, back there you have an advisor whom is always on case, on the other hand, here in college you have to be on your own case. To be honest it is kind of confusing, having to do everything on your own, but I like it, it is preparing each of us for the big world. I am not working, but I am currently looking for a job; my parents always said that work and school do not go together, in spite of that I do not have

My neighbor was a couple of years older than me, so by the time she had been attending college she would infuse me with her experiences. Lucky for me, she was able to provide with wise advice that ultimately helped me come to where I am now. My friend/neighbor struggled during college, but she always held her head high and even after the obstacles she was able to overcome them and find a job that suited what she wanted. One of the many lessons I learned from her was that there are a myriad possibilities to the kind of job you might land, but when you earn a degree the opportunities are maximized, and we should always keep mindful of that. Society has posed college as either the road to success or a road that leads to a vast place of failure, however, I disagree with the statement that it can lead to failure merely because even after graduation the graduate has acquired knowledge and experience. The ability to have acquired so much knowledge not only from the professors but also from the classmates helps shape the mentality of the…

I can still hear the echo of my mother’s voice when I told her I was leaving my job to go back to school full time. In her loving demeanor and ever so softly toned voice, she said, “If you would have focused on education instead of your social status back then, you would be a doctor by now.” I could not believe my ears! However, I knew exactly what my mother meant and sadly responded with, “you are right mother.” I was twenty seven, a mother of two, and about to sacrifice so much for higher education. This was not going to be easy but I was determine to do it for myself and my family. In the past, my parents stressed the importance of education and did all they could to support us through it. However, my priority as a teen was my appearance.…

All throughout our lives we have had to balance school with whatever important thing was going on at that time. In elementary school it was easy. We had to balance school and play time. In middle school it was a little more difficult because we had to balance school, our friends and the occasional relationship. High school was when it became a little tricky because it was when most of us got our first job. We then had to balance our job, friends, relationships, and school. We somehow managed to balance all of these things throughout our lives until college came along. College is a transition period for many students, most of which must learn to balance work, friends, serious relationships, and financial debt.…

I believe the biggest challenge college students face today is the fact that a lot of them are not mentally prepared. A lot of students do not realize that college is a whole new ball game. In high school some people do not really have to study to make an A, but in college you really have to work for just getting a B. Some students can go in with the mentality "well I was one of the best at my school, it is not going to be different in college" and that is what is wrong. Students in high school should have a week or two were they are graded as if they were in college just to give them a taste of how much they have to work and how disappointing it may be for…

The reason why I'm in college is because I want a better future for myself and to show my family that I can become somebody one day. Sometimes I would say to myself like “why am I even here? This place is not the place for me “. In other words college is not for everybody because not everyone who lives with their parents who can afford for tuition for college. But for me I realize that staying alone and not doing nothing for me was the biggest mistake I ever made as young adult at the age of nineteen. Soon as I turn 20 I decided that it was time for me to do something that’s going to be right for myself which was working and going to college. The first day of me attending college was amazing meeting new people and getting to know others such as colleagues.…

Attending college for the first time have been a very exciting, terrifying, overwhelming, sick, and complicated experience. I don't know how to adjust to a place where I can stand on my own and take responsibility for my education and future. People say that college is about finding a job and the higher education we have the better employed we are. From my experience, I feel like college is about finding ourselves, who we are? What we want to be? It’s a case of when the fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all. Since I started college, my life have been going up and down. I'm currently taking three courses which are: AAA 101, CCR 092, PSYCH 101. The toughest course is Psychology. Attending classes, completing assignments, writing papers,…
