An Essay On Oskar Shindler

Oskar Schindler was born on April 28, 1908, in Svitavy, that is now part of the Czech Republic., Hans Schindler, Oskar’s father, was a farm-equipment manufacturer and his mother Louisa, and was a house wife. The religion in his house is catholic but his mother is the only one that actually practiced it. Oskar Schindler left school in 1924, taking odd jobs and trying to find a direction in life. In 1928, he met and married Emily Pelzl and soon after was called into military service. He hated the rules of the military and got out as soon as possible. In the 1930s, the rise Adolf Hitler and the German Nazi Party caused a political change in Europe. Schindler joined a local pro-Nazi organization and began collecting intelligence for the German
He took care of them and made sure that they were all safe. By this time the factory was not producing a lot of money for Schindler, the money was to take care of the workers. In 1944, Plaszow transitioned from a labor camp to a concentration camp and all Jews were to be sent to the death camp at Auschwitz. Schindler was allowed to relocate his factory to near his home town to produce war goods. He was told to draw up a list of workers he wanted to take with him. This list is known as Schindler’s list. When the war ended he ended up saving thousands of Jewish lives. His motivation for saving them was that he was against the ways of Nazis and know that he needed to do something. During the time of the war he was arrested 3 times and almost killed. After the war all of the Germans hated him and he was bankrupt because no one wanted to do business with him. He death in 1974, at age 66, from a heart attack. Oskar Schindler was buried in the Catholic cemetery on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Now there are about 7,000 decedents from the Schindler Jews.
