He also demonstrates another interaction between him and his wife while in the hospital towards the end. He says, “I don’t want to die.” (119). He displayed his vulnerability once again. He often led the audience to believe that in the face of death he was prepared. He wanted them to see this moment so that they could see that in the face of a diagnosis things that were often thought as not scary might be scary because of the emotions that they may feel. He wanted to show the audience that in the face of death it is okay to be afraid and to show the emotions that may be felt.
