An Hour Response
There are many emotions crossing my mind after reading another short story "The story of an hour” written by Kate Chopin. Living in twenty-first century in America and with my Asian background and experience, and seeing so many parts of the world still having unresolved issues regarding human equality or women emancipation or equal rights for women are amazed how little and also how much we accomplished as the human race. Through all these emotional, cultural and tradition drove filters I, a young woman, with my limited, young experience try to understand and feel for Kate Chopin and admire her courage and determination.

Mallard's inner feelings are portrayed by Kate Chopin very lively. Mallard is a woman with severe heart failure. Therefore, when Louise Mallard’s husband - Brently died in a railroad disaster, Josephine, Louise’s sister and Richard, Brently’s friend are chosen to tell as gently as possible the news of her husband’s death to her. "The Story of An Hour" is a slow and insightful analysis of the developing inner feelings of Louise Mallard. The actor in the role of Louise Mallard still has memories that used to belong to her husband and her in the house. A hot cup of coffee for them, they used to sit together chatting. She remembers some happy moments she had. But she also realizes how many unhappy things are experienced in the marriage of two people what make her tired and breathless in all these years. She looks the pictures of her lost youth, remembers the dream she once had. Now she is free, she wants to return to her musical dream with harmonious melodic tunes. And then the husband returns. She is shocked and then with the brittle smile of shuttered dreams she dies of heart
