Recently, I read a Reader's Digest article that showed the lack of communication between people because of smartphones, thus bringing about a lack of close relationships. The author of this article, Terry Stone, stressed the fact that "more people have become less attentive to the people closest to them because of this product". Our lives require an establishment of healthy relationships, but this cannot be accomplished with these newfangled products. Therefore, the quality of our lives are dropping significantly.
Around the world, innovative technology is popping up everywhere, claiming to "improve our lives". But is this technology truly improving our lives if it is making us lazier? An example of such product is the iRobot. How much effort can it really take to vacuum that floor all by oneself? Thanks to inventions like the iRobot, we are slowly succumbing to the age of technology, letting it take over like many people feared it would. Yes, our lives are getting easier, but the quality of our lives aren't getting any better.
In conclusion, although modern enhancements have made our lives easier, they have not raised the quality of our lives. I have seen tables of families in restaurants so absorbed in their electrical appliances that they neglect co communicate with their family members. It's time we set our appliances aside and become more gregarious; after all, quality is what matters
