Ana Monologue
TS#145

The cold air was stinging my face when I woke up chained to a metal bed, surely awaiting my death. Voices in the other room were ringing out of my ear, a man and a woman. I tried to remember how I got here, and why I was dressed in scrubs. The voice I heard now has a face. A handsome one, but he has a coldness in his eyes. He unchained me from the bed, but kept me to the wall with a chain around my ankle.
¨Momma will be in here to check how healthy you are. Do you remember your name?¨ The man said to me
¨No¨ I replied
¨Good, you are now called Ana. You can call me Alako. Be good for Momma or you will suffer¨
Just as Alako is leaving, Momma walks in dressed in all white. She looks at me with the eyes of the devil. Examining each and

How did I get here?¨
¨Darling, these questions will never be answered. Get over yourself now before you get your head all wrapped up in that nonsense. This your life now, only you can make it bad. The Olugbo will be here to have you numbered and ready to be transferred. See you in the car.¨
I got up and stretched my body and prepared myself for the worst. The only chance I have in escaping this, is to never let myself become vulnerable. I can not let my guard down, I can not show weakness, and I can not show fear. When the Olugbo comes in he asks me to show me my left wrist. He tattooed the words ¨ TS#148¨ in dark, but bold blue lettering. Alako arrives to babysit me while transferring. When we got into the car I see Momma sitting in the passenger seat. She turns to me and says ¨You must understand the rules in this house before you get here. First, there will be no fighting with other subjects. Secondly, absolutely no outside contact. There will be no activity in the house during the hours of 11pm-6am. At 7 everyone will start cleaning the house until it is spotless, then at 9 you will all report to the basement for testing, and after testing is complete the day is yours. Anyone, including you Alako, will be punished by death if any of my rules are broken.

All i've gotten from him was some creepy glances and orders. Although he is handsome, I still want my life and my real name back. I'm not And, i'm not a subject, but I am hungry and these waffles are amazing.
¨The food is always great, they need to fatten us up anyway. We need to be able to maintain the strength to handle most of the experiments.¨
¨Experiment?¨
Alako walked in and Lora hushed up. I had about fifteen minutes to clean myself up and start cleaning. I went to my room and put on a clean pair of yellow scrubs and went back down. ¨How do you clean a house that is barely dirty¨ I questioned out loud.
¨Because my house will remain spotless every waking moment of the day! If you have nothing to clean, then make something cleaner. My rules will not be questioned.¨ Mommas voice was heard all throughout the house, and you can tell because every girl there was stricken with fear. What has she done to them?
¨You ready to go?¨ Alako questioned
¨I'm ready, but can what exactly is happening?¨
With a smile on his face he said ¨We'll find out, now won't we.¨
I just kept quiet from then

Don’t you people see what’s going on in our country? Do any of you even have the mood to just smile for one second? Eight years ago, November 18, 1968, in Turkey, Richard Moses, the leader of the Turkish people in a town, brought out a revolution! It was a total success! You stupid people didn’t know about it, did you? Every single person in Turkey cheered for the dramatic change! They received good food, decent wages, ethical living conditions, and millions more! Don’t you want any of those fantastic conditions? Take some time to think about your stupid actions stopping us! Think precisely! This is actually not only for our advantages, but also for the good of everyone single person here in this town! I command all of you to listen to me and support me! You will be living in broken houses, wearing torn clothes and barely having any food supplies! So, stop complaining about foolish people. Now, do not waste my precious time! Let’s get out of here! Aunt Ana's might enroll Leah (now Ivette) and Jacob (now Jacques) in the nearest little public school. She uses the papers we brought it with us from París which they were legitimate with false names which my friend Gilbert’s dad had given us. I had 13 years. Aunt Ana couldn’t register me at the primary school of a single class. I felt sad; I figured I might help the farm.…

I’m hopeless. I’m completely and utterly hopeless. I have nothing to look forward to at a school. At least on the farm I had friends and a family. I had a life… largely consisting of stealing from tourists that visit the vineyard. I need to find a way to turn this car around. That’s it! I’ll tell dad that I don’t want to go. He’ll respect my decision. But if he gets mad… shoot, last time he pulled out the belt. No, I better think of a slightly less painful idea. I can make up an excuse – No, that wouldn’t work. If only I wasn’t such a bad liar. In hindsight, if I were a better liar, I would have prevented many bad run-ins with the cops, and the worst run-ins that were near fatal, courtesy of dad. Yeah, he knows me in and out, too, so I can’t trick him. That would be suicide. I could call my friends… if I had a phone. Now I’ll never get to explain to them how I ended up in this mess. They’ll just remember me as the kid who became a goody two-shoes. They’ll never know that I won the contest for acceptance into a private school only because my Grandma wrote the application appeal. My family just doesn’t care that I don’t want to go to school. Why are they not giving me a fair say in the course of my life? They don’t know how good I am at sneaking and stealing. They don’t know how much money I could make if my friends and I took it to the next level. They just don’t understand what I’m trying to say because I’m not good with words. Maybe this school can help me, though. Maybe if I go sit in just the English and Literature class, I can fix this problem of mine. I’m already in the car, why stop now? Shoot, this car is a ’98 Corolla and is used for transporting a family of eight. Maybe this family needs a high school graduate. Maybe they’re actually depending on me. Man, if I just try a little to be a good student, I can make some honest money. Maybe my grandma just wanted to see someone become great. I have to this. I’ll have the best of both worlds…

A single bed and stainless steel toilet and sink are the only things that belong to me. For three days, I was given three meals a day and nothing else. After breakfast, two men with the crest of New London on their shoulders drag me into a room with a simple electric chair in the middle. They gag me and stand upright at my side for what seemed to be a few hours. A greying, bearded man then entered the room with his hands behind his back. He was dressed in a purple robe with a hood that hung at his back. I knew his face from the thousands of propaganda posters that could be found in the streets and buildings of New London. Lord Tidus Trevil.…
