Factors that can enhance and inhibit communication
Communication can be influenced either in a positive or negative way by variety of factors. An Individual using the service could be inhibited if the factors are not supportive. For example, if there was too much noise in an environment it could drown out a conversation. If positioning is correct and the environment is convenient then communication can be enhanced.
In positioning sitting arrangements should be put into consideration when communicating with others. Positioning depends on what the purpose of communication is to be undertaken. For example if the interaction is informal between two people, sitting next to each other, with the care worker visualising the body language of the individual

A care worker could be overly sensitive or become too involved with the individual using the service. They could be critical of care given by others.
Responsiveness
This can serve as a confirmation that the care giver is acting in their best interest. Thing such as answering question help. An issue with care worker is that they often want to take charge of the situation an d make the decisions rather letting the services user make their own decision
Attentiveness
Being an attentive care worker will show that they value and take interest in the service user Being too attentive can be seen as a being too nosey.
Respect
By calling people their most preferred name without treating them with less value can contribute to the effectiveness of communication. When there is a lack of respect in interaction such as calling someone the wrong name in a patronising manner e.g. ‘hun’ or not valuing their opinions could cause a cease in the sharing of information.

However if the room is too quite this could cause embarrassment as everyone could hear and other individuals may find the situation not conducive to talk. Quiet music can be appropriate in the background when discussing with a matter with a client or at a counselling section. Noise level needs to be appropriate.
• Lighting: Lightning has an effect on the way service users respond.it is necessary to have a full lightening when taking down information or talking to someone as a care worker. So that they can see who they are interacting with. Although if an individual using this service was partaking in a relaxing therapy session then it would be advisable that the lighting is dim, in order to encourage the participant. Lighting needs to be appropriate for the occasion.
• Ventilation: it is essential to have a good air circulation because it promotes concentration. Having a room too hot or cold will be an inhibiting factor to communication. If it is too hot this could make people feel sleepy and drowsy and will cause them to lose interest in the conversation, could even fall asleep. But if it is too cold this could have a negative effect on the service user because they are more likely to concentrate on the cold than the

    All care workers involved with a service user must be aware of what care is needed for that person and know and understand in order to co-ordinate care efficiently. This can be done by liaising with all parties involved in providing care for the individual, eg the service users themselves this will encourage and support them to be involved in their own care, helping them maintain their skills etc. social worker, family, home care agency, meals on wheels, district nurses, GP.
