The factors that go into this are the opinions the family has forced upon them, abuse, how interactive the parents were and more. In a document titled ‘Child of Rage’ there is a young girl who is pretty much evil. The lifestyle that her and her brother were both raised in for the first part of their lives was very abusive. The boy was still a baby and was starved. The girl was sexually and emotionally abused. Because of this, she wanted to hurt other people around her or close to her. This has to do with how she was raised as a child. (Documentary) She has no emotion towards other people and she doesn’t care about how badly she hurts people. But one question I have is if she is like this at such a young age, is there hope for her to be good? That is something that is very controversial, in my opinion. This study went on for ten years and they finished it in 1948. THe study was to see what factors really play into delinquency. “It takes the same ingenuity and patient research to get at the causes of delinquency. When we have isolated the causes we can determine the preventive program that will be useful, and also the effective treatment for each individual case.” (Lyons) In their research they had made prediction tables. They seemed to use the 5 or 6 top factors that could be the cause of the delinquency. The top five factors that they came up with were. “1. Education of parents 2. Intelligence of the offender 3. Age at his first offense 4. When he began to work 5. Industrial skill” (Lyons) The person they studied were studied based off of these 5 factors and his score would help determine if he was a good or bad risk for the Army.
