Analysis: Curating My Future
“Curating My Future”
It started in high school freshman year back in 2009. I was registering for classes, I was always interested in technology and how things worked. I saw a class hat caught me right away “intro to manufacturing” with Wally Truss. I was so excited to be in the class, I saw so many new things I’ve never seen before. I would eventually get to know and use all the machines in that manufacturing lab. Mr. Truss educated me in depth about how important manufacturing is to the world. It was from this class I knew what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go with my future. I did then end up learning that this was Wally’s last year of teaching, he had been teaching thirty-six years prior. I was so devastated and broken but it didn’t

The whole state was talking about how good of a program it was and how many people landed successful jobs afterwards. Through this program at Asnuntuck a company would give a sponsorship to pay for your school and would give you an internship at their manufacturing company as long as you kept a 2.78 GPA or higher. I worked hard and got the scholarship and during the next semester I was able to do an internship as a CNC machinist at CBS Manufacturing Co. I loved my job and I loved every aspect of it, it was such a great learning experience. I literally learned something new at that job for as long as I worked there. I couldn’t have been more blessed to do this, I thought to myself. After spending a year and half working I knew I wanted to go back to school to continue my education in manufacturing. I wanted to become a manufacturing engineer. My job and the engineers helped me pursue my engineer career. I left that job with all my knowledge and continued my education at Central Connecticut State University. I transferred into Central as a sophomore with all my credits and work experience making graduating with my degree that much more obtainable and foreseeable. My first semester at Central was great and a little tough after not being in school for almost two years and not equipped with finical aid I needed made it hard. I attended my first career fair at Central that fall of 2015, I got a lot …show more content…
It just goes to show you work for what you want and you get what you want. I try so hard in life to create a better future for myself because, I enjoy the satisfaction that comes with it and wants me to keep striving. It started in high school and I can’t wait to see where my future leads me next. Whether it’d be another internship or opportunity to do anything for manufacturing you bet I will be doing it to

After graduating from high school I didn’t think about going to college, all I wanted to do was work, hang out with friends and play video games. So at the age of 17, I started working for my uncle at his liquor store for about a year. Throughout that time I attained a great amount of skills; ever where from management to customer service skills. With that being said, I thought about expanding; maybe getting a job elsewhere that will pay me a higher salary for the skills that I have. I applied to Liz Claiborne Inc. in North Bergen, NJ at the age of 18 and got hired as a product coordinator. I was so excited; I was only 18 and about to start making a salary nearly equivalent to that of a college graduate. At this point I thought to myself; “wow! I don’t need to go to college to make money”. I continued working for Liz Claiborne but after three years noticed what I had as a career wasn’t what really interested me, nor something that I wanted for the rest of my life. I was really just doing it for the money. Then, that’s when I realized in order to obtain a career that I always dreamt of, that college was something that I needed to accomplish. I started researching and asking myself questions like “why am I going to college? What am I going to get out of it?” then came up with answers, “if I don’t go to college I most likely won’t have a career of my choice”. If I graduate from college I will have an opportunity of living the American dream; a beautiful family, an enormous house, and nice…

I did not apply to anything fancy like IVY schools where I would just suck up all my money, but instead I applied to something decent. I would get a response three months later from University at Buffalo. The letter stated that I was not in the UB yet. Because of my financial needs I would get in through a program called EOP. The program consist in giving students a chance to make it into college with the condition of attending a three week session where proves their capability of college students. EOP students would give aid to cover some things because all EOP students where in financial need like me. I would go, finish the EOP program and finally get accepted into University at buffalo. The aid is not a full ride, but I covers some, the rest would be up to me, but I still wasn’t sure. I decided to go to college because it would mean so much to my family and to me because of the fact that the first member of the family to attend college would be me. I felt proud more than worried because I beat all the odds and because of the fact that I started from so far away. This scholarship gives me an opportunity to get to the final stop in my academic life, which is my degree in civil…

The reason why I chose to go to union county college is because I didn’t have enough money to get into the college I wanted to go so I decided to go there to see what Its like to be in a 2 year community college . I mean it really didn’t matter to me as long I was doing something for myself to keep me busy and to keep me away from the trouble. Sometimes I think about like where I would be if I wasn’t working or going to school. I said to myself its jail, streets or die being nothing in a world full of opportunities. But now I’m somebody that’s making better decisions for me. I see that I have achieved my goal even though I have more to come which meaning I have more than just a dream.…

The Early College was the push I needed to better myself as a student and as a person. In high school, I received stellar grades and test scores without trying. I never needed to study, and I did the bare minimum for a majority of my assignments. Occasionally, I would find an assignment that I loved and go way beyond the requirement. I was a teacher favorite, but I was disliked by other students because I was a bit of a show off with my intelligence. I never needed time management skills, so I never developed them. While I was received good grades, I did not improve any of my skills or abilities. This program helped me find my faults and make changes that have made a world of difference.…

In 2011, everything changed when my family decided to move to the United States. This was one of the most stressful years of my life because I had to adapt to a whole new culture and language that I did not know. After the first semester in high school (second semester of freshman year), everything ran much smoother, and I started to slowly understand more and more. By my senior year, I was on the student council, graduated with a 3.80 GPA, and got accepted to all the Cal State Universities (CSU) I had applied. After careful thought, I decided to attend Cal State Northridge (CSUN) because they have one of the best civil engineering programs in California. As a first-generation college student, I struggled during my first year, but after that first year, I made valuable connections that had to help me succeed. I joined the American Society of Engineers (ASCE) where I got to a net of support of like-minded people who also had similar…

After leaving my high school life behind me, I looked for a way to escape my dreary surroundings. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and even if I had, I had no plan to achieve them. I spent my last year trying to enjoy my time and desiring that other people invited me to be in their company that I had no plan for when that last school bell rang. When it finally rang out, I was again lost. The only difference was that I no longer had classes. Going to Rock Valley rectified that. Like other kids going to a community college, I had no direction in my classes and was without an idea about what a degree would get me.…

Over the past four years throughout High School I’ve learned that you shouldn’t ask what the future holds because, you define it. You can control your destiny by the decisions you make, the manner in how you conduct yourself, and how you treat others. But, I can see the growth that I’ve achieved over the years. Not just my growth in school but as an individual. I no longer have the same goals as I once did; my standards and expectations are higher.…

What will life in 2050 or 2070 be like? Will it be any similar to the one that we are living, or will there be dramatic changes in technology which will potentially take over all of our lives? It is difficult to predict future- despite the so-called assertions that few people can predict what will happen next. For some people, thinking about the future is an exciting thing to do, as they think the future is bound to become brighter and easier for humans, due to the increasing development in the technologies used. But for most of us, thinking about the future is a broad topic that sends a shiver of uncertainty through our bodies.…

Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to have a job that I would wake up every morning and smile before I went in. As a little boy I fell in love with cars and everything about them. I knew from that moment thats what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. As I matured I began piecing together my plan for success and to this day not much of it has changed. Having a plan is the easy part of it, actually acomplishing it is the difficult part. Not too long ago I enrolled in an Automotive Service and Management course to start doing what I need to fulfill my dreams of owning my own business. Throughout the years I have taught myself most of the things I know about cars from makes and models all the way to wiring, motors, and performance part installation. Running an automotive shop is my dream for two major reasons: 1. I have always had a deep passion for cars and working on them has alway helped relieve stress and 2. I will be able to go to work and make a living doing something I love doing. Waking up and…

I believe hard work pays off. When we are young we think everything is easy, but as we grow we learned that its not that easy and that we have to earn and sacrifice for what we want. I’m currently a full-time student and working part time, this is what many people consider “the college life”, the time for you to enjoy and have fun. For me however, is the time to learn and absorb all I can. The present me will reflect the future me, what I do for myself now is what I’ll make of my future.…
