Is childhood obesity an epidemic? It depends on whom you ask. According to authors such as Janet Barnett, she feels that the parents are the ones causing this childhood obesity epidemic. She feels that the parents allow the children to play hours of video game, watch television for long periods, and eat junk food. According to Barnett, she also feels that the childhood obesity has increased three fold within the last thirty years. Barnett also states that the government has ordered the schools to provide a body mass index in the form of a health report card. ("Childhood Obesity: Introducing the fat card"). Barnett also states that the children will not make healthy choices of their own ("Childhood Obesity: Introducing the fat card).
Barnet makes many more points (claims) in her essay that are logical. She gives supporting evidence behind what is said in her essay through citations and reference pages. I think that there is a lot of supporting evidence; however, I do not feel that she gives enough explanation.
