The Operations Manager / Supervisor of the relevant branch must lock down the warehouse facility as required by the branch operating hours, and must ensure that this is only conducted by the authorized Managers / Supervisors. Branches must document the specific duties and procedures required to secure the facility at the close of business. At a minimum, lockdown procedures must include, as applicable:
• A building inspection of the facility (including bathrooms, offices, lunch room, warehouse, etc.);
• Checking that all doors are locked;
• Making sure all forklift and pallet jacks/lifts have been secured and keys removed;
• Checking that adequate lighting remains after-hours to support CCTV recording; and

3.7 Lighting
It is required of each Branch to provide adequate lighting inside and outside all branch facilities, both during and after hours. Adequate lighting means coverage of all cargo handling areas, cargo storage areas, entrances and exits, fence lines, parking areas, and all areas covered by CCTV cameras. Adequate lighting means that all external and internal lighting levels will support high quality CCTV images and recording.
Branch Management must assign at least one employee who is responsible for physically checking all lighting of the branch facility and who is to be contacted for
appropriate repairs. Lighting must be inspected at least weekly. Repairs must be made promptly and faulty / dead light bulbs must be replaced when discovered.
3.8 Building structure and windows
Warehouses must be constructed of materials that resist unlawful entry. All exterior entrance/exit doors to the branch facilities must be hinged from the inside, equipped with security hinges or otherwise secured in a manner designed to prevent the door from being easily removed from its hinges by outside …show more content…
3.10 Key control, entry code and card access control
A key box must be maintained containing keys for any facility door, forklift or any other key locked device providing access to the facility. The key box must be locked and stored in a secured area with limited access. Keys must be labelled with numbered tags or otherwise indexed in a reasonable manner.
Branch management must require that any loss or theft of a key be reported to Branch management immediately. If an alarm code is shared or compromised, the code must be deactivated and a new code issued. Branch management must re-key any lock to a sensitive area, such as to the perimeter of the facility or the computer room, if the key of that lock is lost or stolen.
Written approval of relevant Branch management should be required for any employee to carry a master key. Facility keys, alarm codes and access control cards must be issued to employees on a business need basis.
