After everything these men went through, you would expect a warm heroes welcoming from the people they kept safe, but really all they got was the exact opposite. The amount of hate that was thrown at these men affected them physically and emotionally because people protested the war to the point where jobs wouldn't even hire a vet because they fought in a war in which they didn't choose.
Born In The U.S.A. definitely gives off a lot of mixed emotions because it tells the sad and rough story of where and how he grew up and then it jumps forward to how Vietnam forced our country into fighting a war that we didn't start. It's all very hard to think about because once the soldiers returned home, these men were being called horrible names and people were doing terrible nasty things to them. People mistreated these soldiers all because they were trying to save the lives of themselves and others and protect their people from the enemy that they had no control
