General Washington pulled out a piece of paper and it said on the top, Crisis by Thomas Paine. He started to read the writings from top to bottom and as he read the troops began to get excited and fired up. John could feel the energy inside of him erupt with happiness, John and Steve started cheering and yelling with excitement as well. It felt like nothing could stop them now. Later that night John and Steve were talking about what happened earlier that day. John stated that he felt that they can win but Steve still had his doubts. John stated that we have to have hope if we want to win this war. But Steve was still thinking that they were still going to lose this war. Weeks had gone by since the speech that General Washington made. The troops had been walking for days and were exhausted and cold. John could tell that Steve was moving much slower than usual. John went up to his friend, it looked like Steve had frost bite. John went to General Washington and asked if they could stop for the day and General Washington said yes. John woke up and saw the troops packing their supplies. John woke up Steve and they both started to pack their things. John and Steve put their stuff on the boat and waited for everyone else. Once everyone was aboard General Washington set sail into the icy Delaware. John had to row the boat with one ore and the water was full with chunks of ice and it was difficult for them to get the boat through. Steve looked like he was about to fall in the water but he kept on rowing. General Washington was at the front of the boat standing still, on the lookout for the whole boat ride. His leadership kept the men focused and inspired. Once the soldiers got to land, General Washington was talking to them about what the plan of attack was. The soldiers waited until nightfall when everyone was sleeping. General Washington was sending people to go to different spots of the town to make the attack easier and faster. John and Steve were on a squad together and they had to take out the guards on the tower. John and Steve both did their Job well.
