The physical death of Jesus Christ reviewed by medical professionals provided a very gruesome picture of enormous pain and suffering to say the least. Prior to His crucifixion, Jesus was so emotionally distress that He was sweating blood. I try to imagine just how one could possibly be so emotionally pressured to cause such a traumatic ordeal as to sweat blood.
That in itself gives me an image of a person who under normal circumstances would have a nervous breakdown but I am not an expert on these things. I personally have experienced an anxiety attack before and it was as if all the air in my lungs was being pushed out and my chest was being caved in by a heavy hand pressing down causing extreme chest pain as well. But to sweat blood, I cannot imagine what that would be like.

William Edwards “On the Physical death of Jesus Christ” stated “As the Roman soldiers repeatedly struck the victim’s back with full force, the iron balls could cause deep contusions, and the leather thongs and sheep bones would cut into the skin and subcutaneous tissues. Then, as the flogging continued, the lacerations would tear into the underlying skeletal muscles and produce quivering ribbons of bleeding flesh” (Edwards, Gabel, & Hosmer, 1986, p. 5).
The movie “Passion of Christ” provided a very graphic image of what this could have possible looked like. Flesh ripped from His body while metal or lead balls or objects tenderized the flesh so that chunks of flesh would easily be torn away and to think that the lictors beat Him to the point that they were exhausted just makes it extremely hard for me to believe that anyone other than Jesus Christ could have survived such an ordeal.
According to Allan Parachini (1986) “Jesus Christ's death on the cross was a study in the agony of a man whose arms and legs--their major nerves possibly cut by spikes--shot searing jolts of pain through a body already ravaged by blood loss from a severe
