Everything changes for a child who has lost a parent and it is very hard to overcome. In the article “Losing a Parent as a Child” by Joana E. Bruno, she describes a parents death as a scar. She tells us “The scar will last forever. It will be with the child as it grows, year after year, until adulthood and beyond into the old age and it will never disappear” (Bruno). Scars will never go away, just like the memory of a parent. When a child loses a parent, every decision they make will be impacted by what they’ve been through because they will always be missing that part of them and will try to make up for it. Sasha begins to tell her story “I lost my mother at 16 and everything about the mother I became was because of it” (Brown). Because she lost her mother young, Sasha doesn’t waste a moment with her kids. She rushed to get married and have kids as not to waste any time, and now she has a very close connection with her kids. Sasha learned a lot after losing her mom. She doesn’t take anything for granted and has overall become a better person because of it.
