Analysis of Drama Through the Movie the Devil Wears Prada
Drama Essay
I chose to write my drama essay on a film, specifically The Devil Wears Prada. I chose this film because it is my favorite movie of all time. It is my favorite because of how benevolent the characters can be, I will explain this in more detail soon. I definitely consider The Devil Wears Prada to be a drama because of all the controversial events that goes on in the movie; I will also explain this in more detail later. The Devil Wears Prada is a story about a young journalist Andrea Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway, who scores a job at a famous fashion magazine called Runway Magazine. Although she is a journalist she ends up getting the position as one of the assistants to the head of Runway Magazine, Miranda Priestly, who is played by Meryl Streep. Meryl Streep is depicted in the movie as a cutthroat bitch; she constantly says mean things to her employees with disregard to their feelings. For example, Miranda meets Andrea for the first time and Andrea is not the most fashion worthy person, she wears stripes with plaid and wears military boots with her dresses to work. Miranda looks up and down at Andrea and says to her “you have no style or fashion,” Andrea starts to respond with “well I think…” and Miranda quickly cuts her off and says “No no it wasn’t a question” (Frankel, 2006). Even though Meryl Streep is very cruel to Andy, she still keeps the job because she is told by a coworker that if she works with Miranda for a year, then she can get any job in the city after that. Her co-worker is Emily, played by Emily Blunt; she is also very rude and does not treat Andy with any respect. Emily is the executive assistant to Miranda which means that during fashion week in Paris, Emily will get to attend Miranda and Andy will stay at the office in New York. Andy does not mind anyways because she does not care to meet all the fashion designers, which are in Paris.
Over a period of time working at Runway, Andy decides to get a makeover because she feels

“Romeo and Juliet” is a riveting performance by ‘Shake and Stir Theatre Co.’ about two star-crossed lovers that are pulled apart by an ancient feud between their families. It effectively employs dramatic languages to create a new depth and understanding of the traditional Shakespearean play. These include tension of relationships, focus and mood, as well as production elements such as set design, sound and directing. “Romeo and Juliet” successfully manipulates all of these elements to create an excellent show that explores the emotional whirlwind of love and hate.…

The vividly green lawn with homey flower pots surrounding the hospitable lawn chair would seem to create a sense of comfort and approachability. However, the attire that Mayer is clothed in contradicts this relaxed impression. Her high-end shoes create a more sophisticated and unapproachable tone. Mayer’s adept presence in contrast to the seemingly relaxed setting may be to emphasize that although she is participating in something that is considered trivial in her field, i.e. modeling, she is still upholding her victorious place as the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.…

Of the many live performances I have been able to see, by far my favorite is Wicked. I have always been drawn to plays that are fantasy-based versus those that focus on realism. Wicked is a complete fun-ride of fantasy from beginning to end. From it's variety of outrageous characters to it's musical score, each aspect of drama is clear and defined in this play. Theme, music, and spectacle will be the focus in this essay, but that is not to say each aspect does not have a role in the show. Wicked presents the aspects of drama in a way that an audience remembers.…

An amazing heartfelt and empowering film about a soldier who returns home after serving the British army to his small town and takes revenge on the people who tormented his dimwitted brother. Dead Man's Shoes, directed by Shane Meadows is a simple tale of revenge and retribution. There is immediate sense of realism from the get go and that is what gives the film its strength. We feel like watching real people in unreal situation. The writing was good and the cinematography sets the tone of the film really well. Paddy Considine gave a great performance probably the best of that year.…

A great play has to include many important features in order for it to be classified as a tragedy. For any great tragedy, there must be a tragic hero in the story. Fear and pity are created by and through the conflict. Every tragedy must also end in hope. William Shakespeare’s Macbeth is a great tragedy deserving of much more praise.…

When the applicant went into the office for her interview she was basically judged based on her since of fashion on weather she had the abilities to do that particular job even though she was college educated and had the qualifications to perform this job. I think the only reason why she was called back in and hired was because she asserted herself after the interview stating that she was not skinny, glamorous ect, but she was smart and a fast learner which are the important things. We know when going to an interview that we should dress in casual or business attire but you shouldn’t have to be dressed like a supermodel in order to get any job unless you are actually the model. The devil effect was depicted in this film when Andrea was out with a new found friend one night and he learned that she was working as Miranda Priestley’s assistant, he comment that she would never survive Miranda because she seems nice and smart and that she couldn’t do that job. I think many people think that’s just because someone comes off as being nice or relaxed cant handle aggressive or mean people but this definitely isn’t always true but with her being smart and educated can sometimes deem you over qualified for positions and not work in your favor but in this situation it was not the…
