In every country, there is an enforcement of law. Without law, there will be unorganized society and unresolved dispute. There is no peace, undisciplined people and society is maintaining its stability but not acknowledging change for good. It has been said, "If you deny the law, you deny the justice (Duque, 2017). How come one of us seeks for justice, when one of us has failed to follow the law? As a matter of fact, we have the freedom to stretch our hands but once we hit another people, that's the time we violated and we are punished for our own mistake (Duque, 2017). Each one of them takes care of their dignity and reputation because it reflects their whole being and the whole professionals. The society is expecting them to show acceptable behaviors based on the standards made. Awareness and keeping professional ethics in mind makes a teacher have a best and appropriate possible professional judgment in every expected and unexpected situation. In order to fulfill professional obligations, the 3R's or the three functions of law must consider. Duque’s ideologies of law are the three functions of law which are resolving conflicts, regulate human behavior and reconcile stability and change. Also, law considerations in general will also be included here.
First, one of the functions of law states that it must be able to resolve conflicts. It means that the attainment of peace depends on resolving disputes completely. However, conflict itself is unavoidable because each one of us has different beliefs, needs and personal views in life. That’s why, law is established and it must be maintained to prevent conflicts. It means to control, correct or to punish someone’s behavior to instill discipline. On our society, unacceptable behaviors are unacceptable through the given standards. There is a correction in every inappropriate action by a professional. Professionalism is about maintaining a reputation and a good example to other people. It may hard for others but following the ethics in a profession, serves as a guide to regulate someone’s behavior and to maintain its discipline. For example, rule in a student-teacher relationship boundaries. One of the common mistakes made by professionals is crossing the boundary line. We all care for our students but some has put romantic love on it. This situation is violating the second function of law which is to control someone’s behavior. As educators, crossing the boundary line between a student and a teacher brings a huge scandal not only to both parties but to all the people around them. It doesn’t help them but it creates distraction to their roles in education. Therefore, they must have a hold on themselves, focus on what is important and avoid having romantic contact to each other. If both continue to cross the boundary line, they are wasting their professional and personal worth as a person. Another example is teacher’s absenteeism.
