The Personal Poetry of Edgar Allan Poe
As a writer, editor, and literary critic, Edgar Allan Poe uses his poetry to portray exoticism and mystery in his themes. While the writer is famously known for works such as, "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Tell-Tale Heart", he sparks the interest of many with the gloomy romanticism in his poetry. Out all his poetry, there are three separate poems that emphasize this the most. The following poems written by Edgar Allan Poe are called To M-, The Happiest Day, and Imitation. Therefore, each poem will have its own specific thematic message which distinguishes it from other pieces written by the same author.
First, the poem To M- written by Edgar Allan Poe portrays a very secretive mysterious love life that perhaps the narrator has pursued. The theme of this particular poem is perseverance …show more content…
In fact, he goes to regret his whole experience. The narrator became with disenchanted. This is a normal result for characters involved disillusionment and dreams. In lines seventeen and eighteen, relief is brought back to the narrator as he sees his terrible nightmare vanish. Taylor 5 To conclude, Edgar Allan Poe was known as a poet, literary critic, and an editor of his work. Though he is mostly known for his tales and short stories, he has showed many that he is capable of creating a thematic message in his poetry. He incorporates perseverance, disillusion and dreams and the illusion of power. He includes these specific themes within his three poems To M-, The Happiest Day, and Imitation. Therefore, Edgar Allan Poe utilized his own poetic work to portray his dark romanticism.
