Another equally important element of marketing mix would be distribution. To start off, Hershey’s Company first plant was outside Hershey, Pennsylvania during 1963 along with other few locations such as Canada, Ontario, Smiths Falls. In 1965, the branches have expanded to more further geographical areas namely California and in 2008, Mexico Brazil, Virginia and more countries with Hershey’s products decorating and filling the streets. In their official websites, Hershey’s company has incorporated delivery and shipping service with extra service charges. This enables more efficient distribution of sales and products. Majority of consumers are very intrigued by special occasions and holidays that are always perceived through commercialization and advertising. In order to celebrate those special events and important non-traditional holidays such as Mother’s day, Father’s day, Valentine’s day and more, Hershey has increased the popularity of gifts and expanding their outlets to more than just official websites and social media. By providing special gifts and other benefits, Hershey’s company has an opportunity to increased sales and revenues in terms of producing a variety of gift baskets that fit themes for annual events and holidays. For example, special offers that separate category of prices such as under $25, between $25 to $50 and above $50. Moreover, there are other gift basket and towers such as Hershey’s Sweet Surprise Gold Tower, Ultimate Gold Tower, Silver Favourite Tin for weddings occasion and so on (Hersheys Store, 2016).

Competitive Analysis

In the past few years, Hershey chocolates is being compared to other brands of candy and chocolate bars. Hershey’s customers, most of whom are adults and teenagers, purchase their products often enough as they have varieties of franchises from Reese, Twizzlers and much more to grab the attention of their customers, in which, according to an insight, has been able to spike up sales of up to 7.4 million US Dollars approximately. Their highest sales spikes are usually based around the time of Valentine’s Day and even Christmas due to the fact that, as explained previously, majority of the consumers purchase the product as a gift to someone they love and appreciate. What Motivates Customers To Buy?
Hershey’s consumers are self-expressive motivated when it comes to purchasing their product. They are often guided by their own desire of the product. Just recently, Hershey’s came up with an advertisement entitled “My Dad”, in which tells the story of a young girl’s journey of trying to reconnect with her busy father with Hershey’s s’mores. This creates empathy among consumers and bring out a relatable connection between the two in which leads to the consumers’ self motivation of purchasing Hershey’s products.

Following an incomplete rural school education, he was apprenticed at the age of fifteen but was fired shortly after.
