John 6:30 - 40, 47-51
The text presented Jesus as the bread from heaven; “Bread of Life”. The people were asking Jesus to perform signs that they may believe in him as Son of God. Though these men had seen and been seeing Jesus working signs and wonders, still they beg for more and never satisfied.
Jesus told them not to be contented seeing wonders but, more importantly, believe and obey, that whoever believes in Jesus will have everlasting life, for Jesus is the living bread that came down from heaven and whoever eats the bread from heaven (meaning: who will believe Jesus’ Sovereignty as Lord and Savior of Life) will live forever. The teacher would make synthesis of the discussion and conclude that God is a Sovereign God/Lord whose power is beyond all nations and people. Indeed, God is sovereign and supreme where powers and leaders are in God’s control.
The teacher may read and explain, briefly, the biblical references given above to make the learners understand God’s work and will in our lives. It would strengthen their knowledge and faith in God as Sovereign Lord of life and history.
