that evolves to a much lighter blue closer towards the horizon as the clouds and sun give it a different appearance. The particular aspect that drew me to this painting is the waves crashing against the rocks. The color of the ocean is a dark blue-green but as the waves come closer to the shore, the water becomes much lighter. When the waves get to shore there is a formation of rocks in the shape of a U and the water is forced to crash into them creating a wall of white water jetting up in the air, covering the rocks in salt with each wave. The royal blue of the sky also drew me to the painting as the color fades out the closer it gets to the horizon. When I saw this painting and the U shape that the rocks form, it reminded me of a trip I took to Cozumel with my family. It was the second stop on our cruse and we only had one day there, so after going through some shops when we got off the boat we rented out a Jeep to explore the island on our own. As we were driving, we found a restaurant on the beach with a pool, some small shops, hammocks, fish spas, and chairs on the beach. Maybe it was because of the time of day or year we were traveling, but it was just us and a few other people at the beach. There was a formation of rocks in a U shape with waves that crashed into them which caused the water to jet straight up in the air, much like the painting. We spent a couple of hours on the beach swimming, climbing the rocks, and watching the waves crash on the shore until we had to get back to the boat.
