Analysis Of Just Lather That's All
In the short story, Just Lather, That’s All, the author Hernando Téllez addresses the importance of making moral decisions. The barber, the protagonist, wishes to do his job honourably and he weighs his options - when deciding to kill Captain Torres. The barber ponders “Murder or hero? […] But I don’t want to be a murder. You came for a shave. And I perform my work honourably… I don’t want blood on my hands. […] Each person has his own place in the scheme of things”(51). The barber looks if his choices are negatively impacting others and makes a brave decision, based on it. Moral choices are sincere and are not selfish and the author showcases this, through the barber’s characterization. The decision the barber makes effects his

    Secondly, the barber would have been a coward because he would have to flee leaving all he had behind. He was well aware that he would have to run and thus he made a statement, “I would have to flee, leaving all I had behind, and take a refuge far away” (51).
