Rebecca Mead’s article “Learning by Degrees” focuses on the statistical logic behind finding a career, and the advice of economists to skip college. This article discusses the advantage education provides for college students by expanding and exposing their minds. Mead also references the argument over the education in high school, which prepares all students for college, instead of the work force. Reading this article, as a college student myself, I began to think what benefits higher education brings. Although college itself does not guarantee us a position in our field of study once we graduate, it does increase our opportunity to earn a higher income job.
