The truth of Maniac was that he really was not born in the dump, he was born in a house, a pretty ordinary house, right regular parents. But one day his parents left him with a sitter and took the P & W high-speed trolley into the city, on the way back home they were on board when the motorman was drunk and took the high trestle over the Schuylkill river at sixty miles an hour and the whole kaboodle took a swam dive into the water. Use in education and research Maniac Magee is popular in elementary school curricula. Many study units and teaching guides are available, including a study guide by the author. The novel has been used as a tool in scholarly work on childhood education and development. After the first and second round edits are completed, the new feature film is reassembled in Camtasia. I will move on to visual enhancement and color correction. The film is a black and white film, but there are more than the two colors present in a black and white feature film. A black and white film contains gray scale variation. I will still need to color grade or visual enhance a black and white film. My goal is to create consistent clarity to Modernizing Maniac. In Maniac 1934 whenever there was a scene change there was a change in the clarity of the piece. These discrepancies can be seen in shots that were from the lab versus shots that were taken in the basement. The lab shots were clear and bright and the basement shots were variations…

Historical information about the period of original publication: The novel was published during a time known as the “Roaring Twenties”. There was economic prosperity and America became a consumer society. There were many cultural and social reformations. Jazz music became popular, and flapper women emerged. Flapper women were women who wore makeup, short skirts, and kept their hair short; meaning they went against society’s acceptable behavior. Dancing became a big part of the social scene. The ‘20s were also known as the Jazz Age, because of the sudden popularity in Jazz music. The younger generation was open to the reform and urbanization. However, the older generation didn’t like the change. 1920 to 1933 was the Prohibition Era, which banned the sale of alcohol.…
