He was the first black man to walk out on the MLB fields, which led to a ton of discrimination. He explains,”There were threats against me and my family and even out-and-out attempts at physical harm to me”(Robinson). This shows the difficulties he faced just as a black player in the fields, trying to play. The time here was the late 1980’s, which was the time of prejudice. He says again,”It hadn’t been easy to fight the resentment…”(Robinson) Later on, it shows that he kept calm, but showed this through his play. Through those years of trying to face those difficulties, Jackie Robinson changed a whole era of racial “rules” through MLB.
