The Beatles song “Across the universe”, chosen words and lyrics helps identify the emotion that is being portrayed and also may give a visual image from the thoughts that are felt through the song. “Words are flying out like endless rain” this at the beginning of the song instantly indicates use of metaphor (rain) of water representing cleansing. It creates the thoughts being released and emptied out of the mind and going into the world. “Pools of sorrow, waves of joy”, is a juxtaposition showing opposite emotions being mixed together and revealing the author is confused and lost. The chorus of the song changes the emotions that were at first held, giving it more a convincing and cultural atmosphere. “Jai guru deva on, nothings gonna change my world “, adding in a second language and then a repetition in first spoken language shows to the listenerhow these thoughts are being spread into the universe and trying to convince everyone. Near the end of the song the words of thoughts have moved to the next stage. They are now already released from the mind but trying to travel. “Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes” This gives a very descriptive visual image for the listener to see/feel. Although the message being sent through is that millions of people are witnessing the author’s breakdown, it gives a sense of beauty being captured in slow motion, making it clearer to imagine. The song ends with repetition, first of “nothings gonna change my world” and then finishes with the repetition of “Jai guru deva”. The use of the repetition at the end of the song helps the listener to understand and except what the author’s message…

When listening to the song the first time I experienced hatred and sadness. And I believe that I experienced this due to my connection to the song. Like how I was abandoned by a parent and how my life has been about me fighting with myself.…
Living in foster care was not always the best either, Michael found out fast the people who was a foster parent to help and the ones that was in it just for the government checks. The 15 or so children were separated into different government homes, a few of the younger kids where adopted. Foster care was hard on the kids, Michael seemed to have had the hardest time though. He felt like no cared about him so therefor he became a runner. Hoping if he ran away to find a family member that no one would find him or the government would just give up, after a few times the did give up. So Michael stayed with his mom and sold newspaper to sport himself. Thought out the years in foster care Michael realized that he wanted a better life then what he had. Michael did not want his mother’s failures to become his failures.…
In a democracy, it is important that the government has less privacy than the people so that the government does not acquire too much power, this is because democracies are only possible when the people are in power, the right to privacy leads to power, and democratic governments answer to the people, so the people should be able to monitor their government. In The Visible Man, Singer insinuates that internet surveillance technology may help democracy to flourish, because it can help the population monitor the government and corporate entities. It is true that access to information on the government is important. Singer also suggests that the government should use social media to surveil citizens because being watched may cause us to act ethically. I disagree with that assertion, because the government is not a person, it is a power structure that must not be allowed secrecy, lest it use its power for the wrong purposes. It is important that the citizens watch the government closely in order to prevent tyranny.…
Foreword- Every time Michael wakes up he goes and gets his slaves to make sure they are working by the time he’s up. And if they are not he really hurts them and it’s not fair to the slaves and he is very hard on them. He doesn’t pay them anything even though he is one of the most richest Americans. He owns 100 slaves, 3 houses, and 10 plantations, and has 600 million dollars. At auctions he spends lots of money on these slaves and he purposely separates people from their families cause he is just an evil rich person. He hates slaves and black people and if he ever sees a black person by his house walking around or looking suspicious he takes them and makes them work for him, it is very harsh. The slaves hate him but have no choice but to follow…
I agree with Morgan’s claims because writing and singing are outlets for people to express their emotions and issues. I feel that lyrics all have a deeper meaning and purpose to them than just the actual words being said. Morgan makes valid points and explains and addresses…
Young teenagers try too hard to become adults. Sometimes many actions teenagers think are mature, but always end up backfiring on them. Richard Wright’s “The Man Who Was Almost a Man” demonstrates how a young teenager seeks a level of maturity and independence that he’s not yet ready for. For example, Dave thinks he is ready to show everyone that he is a man, but in the end his actions backfire leaving him with in a position with less respect than he had before.…
Michael was born into a bad situation to begin with; his mother was a crack addict. The neighborhood was known as a “broken windows” neighborhood, crime rate high and a lack of police presence. No one ever gave Michael a chance or believed in him until he met the Tuohy family, who changed his life. The plan that I have thought of for Michael is for him to continue living with the Tuohy family, but get in touch with his siblings. He needs to know his biological family. Sorting and organizing his life events in different factors, the majority of them are psychological factors, which should result with him seeing a counselor to relieve some of his life’s…
The image this essay will consider is a sculpture titled “Michael Jackson and Bubbles” by the artist, Jeff Koons. The work is a life-sized porcelain sculpture of Michael Jackson in an extravagant costume with the chimpanzee Jackson named “Bubbles” seated on his lap in a matching costume. The image of Jackson and the chimp rest on a small raised dais and flowers are strewn around them on the dais. The sculpture was produced in 1988 and comes from a series of sculptures involving images and figures from pop culture which Koons titled The Banality Series. Three copies of the work are displayed in different museums, one in Los Angeles, one in Athens and one in San Francisco, all in museums of modern and contemporary art. The work is remarkable…
In Jorge Luis Borges’ “The Mirror & The Mask”, a court poet is asked by the High King of Ireland to create an ode to immortalize their victory against the Norwegians. Moving through the short story, we can begin to see a sort of evolution surrounding the ode as it appears to transform from what is perceived as a skillfully crafted literary masterpiece, to something much more silent and solemn. In analyzing this evolution, we’ll be assisted by Paul Gee’s article, “What is Literacy?” As well as a few points here and there from Trish Kelly’s lecture, “Memorial”.…
The United States of America has long been known as a melting pot of cultures that indulge into a rich history that unite everyone as a nation. Jesse Jackson said in his 1984 Democratic National Convention Address that, “America is not like a blanket...America is more like a quilt: many patches, many pieces, many colors, many sizes, all woven and held together by a common thread(americanrhetoric.com).” Jesse Jackson and Pope Francis have both addressed American Congress members as well as World leaders on the importance of making the nation better. While both attempt to play on their audience’s ethos, pathos, and logos, Pope Francis is more effective at reaching a universal audience that is more willing to accept a hopeful message of love.…
