Martin Luther King Jr Martin Luther King Jr was one of the most influential leaders in the world to this day. He gave African Americans a bigger voice and helped Caucasian Americans see what was happening in America and show how the segregation between white and colored people was wrong. He was able to gain support and give people hope that there was something better than what they had in that time period. This was one of the times he was a good leader. One of the most popular speeches MLK is known for is his “I Have A Dream” speech. This inspired people all across America and people saw him as a true leader. Martin’s speech was public and took place at the Lincoln Memorial and focused mostly on Civil Rights Activists and marchers but also attracted many others. In fact, about 250,000 people showed up to listen to Martin Luther King. He was a good leader at this time because he was able to keep order, to keep that kind of mass or group of people calm. If he did not have a way with words and a voice of obedience, the people could have possibly killed him or overtake the memorial or worse. He gave the semblance of a leader and that is one of the many reasons why people followed him into marches, even if people were shooting at you. It was for a cause and he was the spokesperson of it at that time. The only reason, in fact, that MLK was permitted to give his speech was because he was given permission from the president of the United States at the time, Kennedy. Kennedy agreed it would be a peaceful manner, and installed a sound system for King, but still the speech was not heard clearly because it was sabotaged before
