Her emphasis on the idea of unity allows her voters to believe that they all play an integral role in improving America. Thus, Clinton assures them that she is a trustworthy candidate for presidency.
Utilizing the pronoun “we”, in contrast to Trump’s use of “I”, Hillary further refers to voters as a family, giving voters the authority that together with Clinton, change will occur. According to a Globe analysis, in her democratic candidacy acceptance speech itself she used 448 personal prounouns out of 23,049 total words, only 1.9% compared to Trump’s 3.3%. To further build the idea, Clinton frequently repeats the word “indivisible”, which means unable to be separated. Her body language while giving speeches is often more poised than Trump, and showed neutral and sometimes amusing expressions. She created a more positive atmosphere by her tone and firm posture, exuding more confidence than her opponent (Mez). Clinton's speeches thus use a lot of polysyndetons in order to make her sentences longer, beginning many of her sentences with "and" and making them long-winded. In one of her speeches, she mentions "And as your president, I will always have your back... And he's excited voters...And let there be no mistake...And vigorous debate". (NY Speech). According to the readability test, long sentences make more educated voters trust that she knows what she is doing due to her appealing to people’s intelligence and logic. Her insults towards Trump are also generally more intellectual, using ethical values instead of Trump’s more emotional and high intensity choice words. Clinton claims that Trump is “racist, anti-muslim, immigrant and anti-woman” as well as claiming that “ISIS is rooting for him”.
