The title of the novel is Prime Suspect. The novel is written by Lynda La Plante. The theme of the novel is racism against women. The author showed that Tennison fought to the end to prove that women can do work as men, and she gain the commanders’ respect.
In this novel, there were three main characters. The first one was the Detective Chief Inspector Jane Tennison, she was in charge of the murder case. Also, the Detective Officer Bill Otley. He was helping in investigating the case. The last one was George Arthur Marlow who was suspect as the murderer. Especially, when she shouted at her father in his birthday party. I felt she could manage her work without involving her family. However, I thought the author wanted to show how Tennison was extremely focused in the investigation. But I liked how she achieved her dream, and everyone admitted that she had done a great job. She proved that women can do the hard work as well as men. On the other hand. what was frustrating was that the author (Linda) didn’t explain the reasons why the murderer killed the victims even though the method of killing was heinous. Moreover, the murderer’s feeling when he killed them wasn’t expressed. However, Linda did not give hem the due part which made the novel a little bit less exciting. Eventually, the author succeeded in creating Tennison’s character. She was determined to prove that men idea about women was wrong. Overall, Crimes and investigations are my favorite genre of series. Therefore, I really enjoyed reading this
