The author uses his craft to always keep the tension going on in the book. The book is very fast paced as there is always an ongoing conflict going on through the book. The author uses Wade to show off his intelligence throughout the book as he shows his interests in the virtual reality world. When reading the book, the reader can feel as if they are in a movie picturing all the avatars and games around them. At the beginning of the story, the author describes how the world was turned upside down due to humans not taking care of the environment. It can be compared to how in today’s world, people are criticized for not treating the environment correctly. The author also makes you want to have sympathy towards Wade as he grows up poor and has a passion for video games. He has had a tough childhood and lived in stacks for the most part of his life as he is poor. Later on in the book Sorrento blows up Wade’s home and it is very devastating how Wade’s world can be turned even worse.
