Analysis Of S. E. Hinton's Song 'The Outsiders'
“All We Are” a song performed by One Republic would be a perfect fit for the soundtrack of The Outsiders, a novel by S.E. Hinton. These lyrics connect with the understanding and change of some characters throughout the novel. Furthermore the entire song would be a great asset to the movies soundtrack.
In lines 12-17 of the song, the lyrics “We won‘t break, we won’t die it's just a moment of change all we are, all we are is everything that's right all we need, all we need, our love is at a bind” are suitable for different parts of this novel perfectly. These lyrics capture the events of Johnny and Ponyboy hiding in the old church in chapter 5. Johnny tells Ponyboy that they need to cut and dye their hair so they won’t be recognised by the police.

You’re an island and my ship is running ground” can relate to the fact that in Johnny’s oppressive life he gets hit a lot, but he is acceptant; Johnny explains, “I think I like it better when the old man’s hittin’ me. At least then I know he knows who I am.” (page 51). On the other hand Ponyboy didn’t ever get hit, that is until ponyboy seems to be walking in Johnny’s shoes when Darry hits ponyboy; “It was Darry. He hit me. I don’t know what happened, but I couldn’t take him hollering and hitting me too.” (page 51) Therefore, like the lyrics say Johnny’s “shoes” would’ve never fit Ponyboy. Taking the lyrics into the story Pony could think “there’s nothing to lose”, so they ran away. Soon thereafter Ponyboy “gets some perspective” and discovers how much Darry really loves him, and wants him to thrive in life.
“All We Are” a song performed by One Republic would be a perfect fit for the soundtrack of The Outsiders, a novel by S.E. Hinton. These lyrics connect with the comprehension and change of some characters throughout the novel. These lyrics can symbolize the relationship of Johnny and Ponyboy, them hiding out in the church, their change, and Johnny’s death. Most importantly, it shows that everyone is subject to change at sometime in their life, it can be for better or for

Since Ponyboy is a Greaser, a Greaser usually gets jumped by a Socs. While Ponyboy tells about how Johnny got jumped, Ponyboy also gets jumped for the first time. “‘ I had never been jumped, but I had seen Johnny after four Socs got hold of him, and it wasn't pretty. Johnny was scared of his own shadow after that. Johnny was sixteen then.” Page 5. Also on the same page, "Need a haircut, greaser?" The medium-sized blond pulled a knife out of his back pocket and flipped the blade open….."Are you alright, Ponyboy?"” This shows how the Socs jumps onto a Greaser. However, after getting jumped, his brother, Darry helps him and carries him to help him out. Another example is when Ponyboy and Johnny just finished watching the movies and when the Socs came to fight against them. This quote shows how Johnny is loyal to Ponyboy and helping him out. “"You really killed him, huh, Johnny?" "Yeah." His voice quavered slightly. "I had to. They were drowning you, Pony. They might have killed you. And they had a blade... they were gonna beat me up...."”…

The main character of “The Outsiders” was Ponyboy Curtis, the younger brother of Darry and Sodapop Curtis. Ponyboy is very unique from all of the other characters, they are all unique. He isn’t the tuff like Dally, the pet like Johnny, the leader like Darry, the silly one like Sodapop, the wisecrack like two-bit, or even the confident and arrogant one like Steve. Ponyboy is quiet, smart, young, and kind. One of Ponyboys obstacles in the book was his brother Darry, the leader of the gang. “I could tell it was Darry though - partly because of the voice and partly because Darry’s always rough with me without meaning to be. ‘ “I didnt mean to!” Darry shouted… “Thats all i hear out of you! Cant you think of anything?” “Darry…” Sodapop began, but…

Music is the one universal thing that makes people feel every emotion from happiness and anger to sadness and love. In every song ever written there is a story being told. I have always wondered what a soundtrack of my life would reveal. Although I cannot realistically have a song playing every time I experience an emotion, I have some songs that have stuck with me during significant events in my life that could be featured on a soundtrack illustrating my life. The song “Born this way” by Lady Gaga is very relatable. The song quotes “I’m beautiful in my way cause God makes no mistake , I’m on the right track baby I was born this way”. Growing up as a adolescent in this country was hard for me as my home country has different…

For the final singing scene, we were looking at songs from the famous Disney movie High School Musical. Eventually we decided on the song Stick to the Status Quo. This song was very suitable for our scene because the song consists of four solos, which was perfect because we had four passengers on the train. The solos were in the same order as the contemplation scenes were: beginning with Olivia, then Luke, then Kim, and lastly me. We immediately started changing the lyrics to match our particular topics. Each passenger partook in an individual solo that pertained to his or her water issue topic.…
