The Spanish people are known for their cultural and traditional stories. Most times these stories usually have moral attachments to it. In Sophocles’ Antigone, the overall moral was not clearly stated in the text it can be assumed that the moral of the text is that “one cannot rely on themselves alone when it comes to making critical decisions.” Dan Taylor describes some problems he faced when he translated the text to English. He said that the way the original text was written lacked a lot of literary elements thus making it harder for him. In the Spanish language, their literature stand out, there are many colourful expressions that are used when writing any form of literary work. As a result of this the translation of this book would be even harder because the intensity of the words that are used will have to be replicated in English as well. If the book had been written in Spanish, the book would have been more recognized because Spanish is one of the languages that are becoming universal so it would be more appealing to many other countries and not just the …show more content…
However, if Sophocles had intended for the play to be directed at the people in power the entire story would have played out differently. Sophocles would have focused only on Creon and his senators to show how the entire government thinks collectively about the situation that has been put in front of them. Maybe then, Creon will not have been seen as the play’s antagonist. The reader would have felt more of an inclining to Creon rather than Antigone. Although, Sophocles may have intended for the reader to see more of the ignorance that Creon
