With the seventh installment of Star Wars coming this month I figured it would make a good topic. This video talks about a popular new conspiracy theory where the character Jar Jar Binks was supposed to become the Sith lord instead of Palpatine. It makes some very convincing points. The clumsy character seems to find his way into some very powerful positions. This might have happened due to control of the force. Clips from the video show him flicking his wrists and while talking to lead characters. These conversations happened at crucial times during the film, and they all ended in the sith’s favor. The creator of the video believes he is using Jedi mind trick to sway the plot in his favor. The creator…
Not only is concentration fundamental to a Jedi’s path, but their understanding of reality and the strong focus on the present (wisdom) that Jedi Knights exhibit, is also crucial and vividly displayed throughout the saga, specifically through character Yoda-who can be regarded as a sage who has mannerisms similar to Gautama Buddha’s. In Star Wars, Yoda says many things that directly align with words spoken by Gautama Buddha himself. For instance, on episode I, Yoda says: “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering” (Star Wars, Episode I). Similarly, Gautama Buddha teaches that: “There is suffering; there is a cause of suffering; there can be an end to suffering; the eightfold path brings about the end of suffering” (Gautama). In both cases, one can sense the wisdom that both figures possess, and can also observe that both have a clear…
The Crusades were a series of military campaigns encouraged by the church and pope to capture the Holy Land (Jerusalem) from Muslim hold. They were carried out during the 11th through the 13th centuries. There were a series of at least 6 crusades, some of which were directed at other European countries rather than Muslim countries. Kingdom of Heaven is a movie that deals with the 12th century crusaders. The movie takes place between the 2nd and 3rd Crusades and outlines the life of a blacksmith, Balian of Ibelin, who chooses to grant his father's wish to follow other Crusaders to free Jerusalem from Salah al Din's hold.…
In the article “ The force in ‘Star Wars’ is stupid and immoral” written by Ben Shapiro He states that “The vision of the force in the star wars galaxy is morality free its feelings centered wich another way of saying “selfish” who cares about your feelings?” I think the point of the force is that the light side is about using it to help others, and the dark side is about using it for yourself.…
I think the French Wars of Religion was more about religious differences because ever since the French nobles became Calvinists, they would show independence from the central power. It created the conflict between Catholics and Calvinists where power was the main struggle making religion become a way bigger issue. The last of the wars would be the war of the Three Henry’s where it showed the overall religious differences between the Catholics and the Protestants. Which this was between Henry III and Henry of Guise versus Henry IV.…

When individuals of a higher rank give orders, make decisions and enforce obedience to lower ranked individuals, it is normative for persons to obey orders. When an order is disobeyed, insubordination is probable, thus causing the individual with previously lower status to fight back against the oppression. In the film Cool Hand Luke, the narrative is largely based on the main character Luke, refusing to conform to life in a rural prison. Throughout the film, Luke struggles to obey authority and is seen trying to escape from the prison. Dragline, however, conforms to traditional norms of the prison and abides by commands. Obedience to an authoritative figure is also a major theme in the film because the prison is an institution where rules…
In the opening scenes of Revenge of the Sith, Anakin reaches a crossroads as he finishes his duel with Count Dooku. The shot shows Anakin standing over Dooku with both of their Lightsabers, one red and the other blue. These two lightsabers symbolise to us the two paths faced by Skywalker. Life or death, justice or revenge, honour or power. Anakin cannot resist the lure of the promise of power represented by…
The universal themes of Star Wars are relationship to machines, issues of friendship and obligation to other people around you, and control over your destiny. Darth Vader is an example of relationships to machines because he is more machine than man, as an antagonist in Star Wars. Star Wars also has an infinite amount of examples on the issues of friendships and people around you, with character relationships playing out. The case of Luke Skywalker can easily be seen to fit the destiny pattern. Luke is an orphan, uncertain of his place in the world and even of his own identity. He is cast adrift but is guided along his path by Ben and by Yoda, who share the wise elder counselor…
Pinocchio is Disney Animated film that was made in around 1940. This story is about a marionettes quest to becoming a real boy. Pinocchio’s Creator was Geppetto, a carpenter, who fell in love with the outcome of his work and wished upon a star that this marionette he created would become alive. The Blue Fairy is the one responsible for making Geppetto’s wish come true. She gave life to Pinocchio but not as a real boy, instead he was just a living marionette who had to prove he was worthy of becoming a real boy by being brave, truthful, and unselfish. Jiminy Cricket is a representation of Pinocchio’s conscience during his quest to becoming a real boy. Throughout Pinocchio’s journey there are many examples that can be seen as an Initiation.…
According to Viramontes, the unique challenges by Latina females is caused greatly by their ethnic background. Often women are oppressed by society, but when the issue is of color these challenges are harder to avoid. This does not only occur in this novel, but exists today in the real world. Many Latina females are often discriminated and harassed by societal influences, which makes them feel forced into specific roles. As seen in Under the Feet of Jesus, Estrella is a victim of these ongoing challenges, for being part of a low socioeconomic status, lack of education, and not being a legal U.S. citizen.…
One of the most important dichotomies that exist amongst today is Science versus Religion. A dichotomy that started in the renaissance era, a period when people started questioning, looking to other horizons, other than religion and truly began to comprehend reality. The theme of Science versus Religion is portrayed in a great deal in the novel Life of Pi. In Life of Pi, Yann Martle utilizes the protagonist Piscine “Pi” Molitor Patel’s to suggest that humans require both Science and Religion to attain their full potential. Pi’s experiences prior to arriving in the Lifeboat , in attendance of the Lifeboat and following Pi’s ordeal on the Lifeboat, all reveal Pi’s enormous interest in science and religion.…

Witness the tragic transformation of Anakin Skywalker from mere slave to one of the greatest, most powerful, and feared villains of the galaxy: Darth Vader. In Star Wars The Phantom Menace, Terry Brooks writes this 276 page book from a movie into a third person omniscient point of view. In case you didn't know what that means it’s when the narrator know everyone's thoughts and feeling while still telling the story. This science fiction story has many characters, so it’s hard to tell which one in the main character.…
