Analysis Of The Main Olympian In Greek Mythology

There are 12 main Olympian in the Greek Mythology, there is Zeus, Ares, Hephaestus, Hermes, Athena, and many more. In the article “Ares” by Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, Ares was the god of war and he was called Mars by the Romans. In another article By Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia “Hephaestus”, it states that Hephaestus was the god of craftsmen and was called by the Romans Vulcan. “Hermes” and “Athena”, both by Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia state that Hermes was the god of travelers, roads, luck, thieves, and commerce, while Athena was the goddess and she was also the guardian of cities. In the excerpt “Zeus” by Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia it explains that Zeus was the god of weather and he was the son of the leader of the titans Kronos.
Hephaestus is another son of Zeus and Hera. He made most of the gods and heroes weapons, Hephaestus was thrown out from Olympus by Zeus, which is why he was lame or crippled (“Hephaestus”). Zeus did not just have one wife he had many wives.
Zeus had another wife Maia and made Hemes. Hermes is the god of travelers, road, luck, music, thieves. He was also the messenger of the gods, particularly of Zeus.He was conductor of souls to Hades (“Hermes”). Athena’s mother Metis was seduced by Zeus and he learned that any sin she bore would overthrew him, so he swallowed Metis. Later on Hephaestus split Zeus’ skull with an axe, and Athena was born from his brain fully grown (“Athena”). Ares, Hermes, Athena, and Hephaestus were all sons or daughter of Zeus. Zeus was the ruler of all god and goddesses. He saved his brothers and sister from Kronos by putting poison on his drink that made him vomit them and they banished him to the pits of tartarus (“Zeus”).
