The four muscles of the rotator cuff are the Supraspinatus, which originates above the spine of the scapula and inserts on the greater tuberosity of the humerus. This muscle abducts the shoulder joint and also helps stabilize the head of the humerus in the glenohumeral joint. The second muscle is the Infraspinatus, which originates below…

Scapular dyskinesis is an anatomical dysfunction of the scapula, or more commonly known as the shoulder blade. The scapula is a bone that connects the humerus and the clavicle to the axial skeleton with its muscle attachments and provides stabilization to the arm. The scapula is a triangle bone; relatively flat in shape that forms the shoulder girdle. The scapula has multiple surfaces where muscles originate and attach. These surfaces are the subscapular fossa (costal side), infraspinatus fossa, and supraspinatus fossa (both dorsal side). There is also the scapular spine, glenoid fossa, acromion, and the superior, medial, and lateral borders. The glenoid…

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles that work together to stabilize the shoulder while connecting the humerus to the scapula. The four muscles include the Teres minor, Infraspinatus, Supraspinatus, and Subscapularis. A cuff around the humerus is formed from the tendons of these four muscles. While lying below the scapular spine, the teres minor and infraspinatus muscles are in charge of externally rotating the shoulder. Teres minor is initiated more when the arm is abducted to 90 degrees while the infraspinatus acts when the arm is in neutral. The supraspinatus is in charge of initiating abduction and works during the whole range of abduction of the shoulder. This muscle also lies under the scapular plane. On the other hand, the subscapularis muscle is in charge of internal rotation of the shoulder. It is also the strongest and largest muscle of the rotator cuff. Tears to any of these muscles may result in a loss of function of the shoulder as well as excruciating pain for the patient.…

I am sitting just before the escalator to go upstairs to the food court and movie theater. I am sitting on a wooden bench with my girlfriend to my left. There are many shops surrounding me such as Champs, Pacsun, Traffic, Lids, Home Elements and Dollar Tree. The area that I will be observing is about 50 feet by 100 feet. There are 4 potted trees around me, one to my direct left, one to my direct right, one northeast and one northwest. There are also two fake plants directly north of me in between the two potted trees. There are two sets of stairs on each side of a long ramp to my left. As I look up, there is a large sunroof approximately 200 feet above me. It is sunny out today with few thunderstorms. It rained about 2 hours ago but has since brightened up and evaporated all of the water which means it is very humid outside. There is constant foot traffic inside the area that I am observing today.…

The skeletal system is also the site of insertion of muscles and ligaments. Muscles are attached to bones via tendons for example, the distal biceps tendon attaches the bicep muscle to both forearm bones (radius and ulna); while ligaments holds different bones together at a joint, for example ligaments hold the femur and the tibia bones together at the knee joint.…

I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that, while on a recent vacation to England, my family and I came across a new book called Secret Shopping for the American Tourist (Copyright © 2010, Friends Publications), which included many coupons and ideas on how to travel through England. The book not only explained how to change the American $ to the English £, but it also listed a famous Web site that I wanted to share with all of you (www.notatruesite.com) where you can find many bargains and, best of all, the shipping is free.…

In the span of one visit to the mall you can witness a lifetime of loneliness developing. When contemplating the meaning behind Tony Hoaglands poem, At The Galleria Shopping Mall we are presented with a culture that exists to acquire material items. From the beginning to the end of our lives we are enveloped in a cultural machine that methodically raises us to spend our lives purchasing. From the perspective of the author we see someone that is witnessing events unfolding at a local mall. The speaker witnesses the progression of not only their niece Lucinda, but of all young Americans trying to find their cultural identity. Her baptism through materialism is chronicled in the poem and helps to explain the process that many Americans undergo…
